On Sunday, June 22, we celebrated Pastor Laverne’s 30th anniversary of ordination!
Pastor Don Schiemann led the worship service because Pastor Laverne was technically on vacation, and because he baptized his granddaughter, Olivia Rose Schiemann, daughter of Mike and Pam.
The elders called Pastor Laverne up to the front and prayed for him. He was presented with a new red stole, made by Bernice Ulmer, one of our FaithLife Chapter members, and embroidered with the logos of the church and the school.
Pastor Laverne was also presented with a $1,000 gift from FaithLife Financial, to be used for wellness or education. FaithLife also gave him a piece of logoware— a jacket. Pastor Laverne was also presented with a folder containing letters of congratulations from former congregations as well as family members. Simon Verboom
prepared a wonderful cake for coffee time.
What made the day extra special for Pastor Laverne was having Stephan and Chelsey, his son and daughter-in-law, in attendance from Hong Kong!
