Christmas Giving
Parents, thank you so much for responding to our food drive plea and providing for our community! There are still several needs represented, some very specific and practical such as twin bed sheets, a toaster, a whistling kettle, and men’s snow gloves. Please browse the list of requested items and see where you can fulfill a need. Donation boxes are available in each classroom as well as at each school office and donations will be accepted until December 8th.
Gift cards and cash can be dropped off at either campus office for safekeeping.
Thank you for your generosity, you are making a difference in the lives of others!!!
Are you able to assist in organizing the hampers on Friday morning, Dec. 9th? A few parents to help would be appreciated. Please email Lisa at [email protected] to indicate your availability.
The Well
Thank you to all middle school families and The Well for donating money to Operation Christmas Child. The Grade 7/8 class went shopping and was able to fill 20 shoe boxes. Well done Hope Middle School!!
The Well will not be open for business next Wednesday, December 14th due to the half day.

Christmas Musical Props
Help! We need some props. Here is a list of props we need. If you have any of these items, please fill out this form and bring the props to either Ms. Allen or Mr. Yee.
Christmas Musical Choirs and Band
What are you planning to wear in the Christmas Musical? If you are an actor or dancer, you may have already figured out your costume. If you are in the choir or the band… here’s what you need…
Choirs K-5 – Dark bottoms, and ‘tree’ colored tops (greens, yellows, oranges, reds, purple, and dark blues). The tops should be plain with no logos. For those acting in the musical, whatever costume you are wearing will suffice.
Bands 6-8 – Formal uniform for those not acting in the musical. Those who are acting in the musical can wear their costumes.

Support the Grade 8 Mission Trip
Please consider supporting our Grade 8 mission trip – donate your returnable beverage containers. Labels with our school’s QR code can be obtained in either campus office or printed at any Express Return-It depot by using the phone number 604-111-2222.
All proceeds raised will go directly towards the spring mission trip.
Festive $2 Dress Down Day – December 9
On December 9th, for $2 students are invited to wear their most festive Christmas dress, whether that’s an ugly Christmas sweater, a fancy party dress or your own creation of jingle bells and blinking lights. All money raised will support the annual Grade 8 missions trip to Kyuquot next spring so every Toonie counts.
Coffee Fellowship
We are meeting for coffee and baked treats this Friday, December 9th at 8:30 am in the Elementary parking lot. Please stop by for a hot drink and a chat. We’d love to connect with you!
Parent Assistance Needed – Musical
Friday, December 9th is a work bee to decorate for our Christmas musical. If you have some time that afternoon following dismissal, please stop by the elementary campus to assist.
Dance Moms – do you have a flair for performance makeup application? If so, we need you!
Our musical is in need of parental support in the way of stage building, costumes, and make-up artistry. Please see the
Parental Assistance & Props List document and sign up where you can assist.
Also, we are asking our Parent Community to provide some Christmas treats in exchange for PPP hours. Every $20 spent on purchased treats = 1 hour. If you are baking your own treats, 2 dozen cookies or one 9×13 square = 1 hour. We’ll also need parents to help set up and plate the treats prior to the performances on Dec. 13 and 14. Please view the signup for more information, including details on when to drop off your items.
Food Provision – Student Service Project
Miss Markling is looking for donations of jam for her student service project in partnership with SOS ministries (see October newsletter for details). Jam donations can be dropped off at the elementary campus office. 3 jars jam = 1 PP hour
Please browse the list of ongoing opportunities and let us know where you are able to lend a hand.

Extreme Weather Closures
As we head into the winter weather season, please note the following important information regarding Hope Lutheran Christian School closures due to extreme/inclement weather:
- The decision to close (full day or partial day/late start) the School due to extreme weather will be made by 7:00 am, on the day of the closure, so families can make alternate arrangements.
- The announcement will be posted as quickly as possible on our Facebook page and our school website. Do not phone the school, as staff will not be available.
- The decision will be made taking into consideration the safety of our families and staff, and the School’s ability to operate normally, and will be based on the best information available at the time.
- Any extreme weather closures will automatically apply to both campuses, and Schola Bohemia – Before and After School Care.
- Hope Lutheran’s extreme weather closures may not be the same as the local School Districts’ closures.
Winter weather can change quickly, therefore, when the School remains open, all decisions regarding travel to and from the School are the responsibility of each family.
Parent Prayer
You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.
We meet outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.
Every Monday from 8:45 – 9:15 am (except for holidays).
