We are looking for volunteers for lunchtime supervision at the Port Coquitlam Campus from 11:50 am – 12:45 pm each day.  This extra support is needed so the kids can go over to McLean Park. Orientation will be provided by Mrs. Watson. Thank you so much for giving your time in this area! You can sign up at the following link:  PoCo Lunch Supervision

Kilometre (Km) Club

Kilometer Club is ongoing Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until October 18.  Anyone is welcome to run. If new participants wish for their laps to be counted, please inform the Club Coordinator ([email protected]) to be registered as online registration is now closed.

About 15-20 volunteers are needed each day for the running of this event. If your child is participating, it is strongly encouraged that caregivers volunteer a minimum of three times throughout the duration of the run. Volunteers are needed to: set up, hand out wristbands, conduct warm-up, be a course spotter, stamper, tally laps, clean up, and run concession.  Your time spent helping with Km Club counts towards the Parent Volunteer Hours.

To volunteer please select the following:  Km Club Volunteer

Please email Lisa Klym, Km Club Coordinator at [email protected] if you have any questions about this event.

Volunteer Opportunities – 2019/2020 School Year

We have several vacancies, listed below, to fill for the coming year.

  2. PTL Secretary:  The PTL Executive needs a Secretary.  Requirements are to attend each PTL meeting, record discussion items and compile meeting minutes for distribution.

  4. Events Photographer:  Parents are invited to take on the role of Event Photographer at all our social and athletic events.  We’d like to capture action and behind-the-scenes photos at all our school events. If you have an interest in photography and would like to be included as a contact person, please contact us.
  5. Christmas Hampers:  A Coordinator is required at the beginning of November to send out a Sign Up Genius link to Class Liaisons, arrange for donation boxes and recruit volunteers help to designate items to pre-determined families.

New Initiatives

Compassion Ministry

To foster a greater sense of community and support the needs of our Hope staff and student families, a Compassion Ministry has been formed.  This ministry addresses sudden and immediate needs that may occur within our school community such as a hospitalization, critical illness, or other needs where the family would benefit from prepared meals and/or light housekeeping and childcare.

Requests would be handled on an as-needed basis and will be kept discrete.  If you would like to volunteer to be a contact for this ministry, please email Lisa Klym at [email protected].

Fall Book Club for Parents

The Book Club devotional will be starting Monday, September 30.  We will meet in the school library. It will now be in joint English and Mandarin together. The first book we will be doing is Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire: What Happens When God’s Spirit Invades the Hearts of His People, by Jim Cymbala. In Chinese, the book is:  疾风烈火。 which is available as an ebook. Please contact Michele Malmberg at [email protected] in either Mandarin or English for more information.
