Pumpkin Patch Event

A gentle reminder that the PTL will be hosting the pumpkin patch event on Friday October 15 during school hours and will run until 4:30 pm to accommodate Middle School students.  The Elementary School parking lot will be closed all day to ensure the safety of our students during this event. Please account for extra time during drop off and pick up to find parking alternatives. Don’t forget to send your children with $5 and a bag if they wish to purchase a pumpkin. We would also like to remind everyone that during this event they can wear a costume from their favourite book but nothing scary and must be respectful of our church and school.

Parking Lot Closed Afterschool – Oct. 15

To accommodate the space for our PTL Pumpkin Patch Festival, the school parking lot will be closed afterschool on Friday, October 15.  Students will still be picked up from their usual spots, but parents will need to park at the park or on the street.  Please be considerate and mindful of our neighbours and park in the designated spaces.

Grade 5 Fundraiser – Hot Chocolate & Snack

The weather is getting colder and a yummy remedy is a cup of hot chocolate!

Please support our first Grade 5 Celebration fundraiser this Friday, October 15, during afterschool pick up. The cost will be $2 for hot chocolate and a bag of snacks (popcorn or cookies).

We hope to see you all there, to  support our grade 5 students as they work towards their celebration.

Over the past year and a half, we have had a very relaxed uniform enforcement at Hope.  This year as we are slowly returning to more ‘normal’ routines and conditions we will once again be following our school uniform policy.  Our uniform policy can be found on our website, under the parents tab or you can click the following link https://hopelcs.ca/school/uniforms/. Please be sure to read through, as teachers may be contacting you if any infractions are noticed in the coming weeks.

Terry Fox Run Pledge Sheets

A reminder that Terry Fox Run pledge forms were to be returned to the school by today, October 12.

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We will be meeting outside at the elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 9:00 – 9:30 am (except for holidays).

Parent Teacher League (PTL) News

Parent Volunteering

  1. We’d like to bless our hard-working teachers with a meal while they are working into the evening to conduct Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 28th.  Parents are encouraged to sign up for specific food items.  Each slot indicates the time to claim for Parent Participation Program:  P/T Conference Dinner
  2. Falling Leaves + Wet Weather = Street Flooding at Elementary Campus

Help keep little feet dry.  On an as-needed basis, parents are encouraged to bring a shovel and pull the leaves away from the curb enough to allow water to    flow into the catch basins.  If the leaves aren’t cleared from the curb, water collects at the entrance to the school driveway and at the crosswalk, causing very        large puddles to form.  Time spent on this act of service will count towards parent participation hours.

An ongoing list of volunteer opportunities can be found here:  2021-22 Volunteer Opportunities

Km Club Extension

Km Club has been extended to October 20 to make up for some rainy days.  Students are encouraged to run from home over the weekend of the 15 so we don’t conflict with our Pumpkin Patch on the same day.  We will have runs at McLean Park on October 18 and 20.  October 20 will be the final day of Km Club.

Family Portraits Fundraiser

If you have signed up for a photo session, please ensure payment ($50 cash or cheque) has been submitted to the office, addressed to Michelle O’Dell, PRIOR to your photo session date.

Spots are still available for prime photo sessions for our Family Portraits Fundraiser.  Outdoor photo shoots take place on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays to October 23.  This is a great opportunity for families to have a professional photo taken with a portion of the session fee directly benefiting the school.

To sign up for a session time, please register here:  Photo Sessions (please note the two tabs, for Weds/Thurs & Sat).
