Important Notice Re: 2023 Kindergarten Eligible Siblings

Although it feels like the school year has just begun, in the office we are already preparing for next September!

Each year we set aside spaces in our upcoming Kindergarten classes for potential incoming siblings. This information is determined by what a family has entered on the registration form of their older child.

We recognize that it may have been over 5 years since the first student in a family joined us at Hope Lutheran, and new siblings may have been added, or this section might not have been completed by the family at the time of registration.

If you have a younger child who would be eligible for Kindergarten 2023 (born in 2018), and you have not already received an email from our registrar Clare Wood, please contact Clare directly at [email protected], before Friday, October 21st.

The deadline to submit a 2023 Kindergarten sibling application package is October 24th.

Harvest & Pumpkin Patch Festival

The Harvest & Pumpkin Patch Festival is back! – Friday, October 21st, during school hours. Play games and win prizes!  Support the PTL and bring $5 to purchase a pumpkin. Wear your favourite storybook costume (Franklin, Captain Underpants, Peter Pan, Cat in the Hat).  All costumes are to be respectful to the Church ie, no devil, monster, zombie or witch-like costumes.

The Grade 5s will be hosting their very first fundraiser for their Grade 5 celebration at the Harvest & Pumpkin Patch Festival on Friday, October 21st after school in the elementary school parking lot.  Please bring a loonie or toonie in support of their Snack Food Concession: chips, pop and small treats are $1/item.  The Grade 5s look forward to seeing all of you at their concession!

Lost & Found Sweaters

There are a significant amount of school sweaters in the Lost & Found.  For the next few days (until Wednesday, October 19) the sweaters will be displayed on a table at the far end of the school foyer.  If you child is missing their sweater please take a look at the table.

Terry Fox Run

Once again our Hope community came together to raise funds and awareness for Cancer research. Pledge sheets were returned and online pledges were made. Together, we made a difference.

This years incentives winners for fundraising are:

  • Charlie Schroeder (3B): Lunch with Mrs. Watson for the most money raised
  • Grade 2A: Extra gym/recess time/movie lunch/freezies for the class with the most pledge participation
  • Dress down day for the whole school: We raised $4016.50!!!! (date to be determined)

Thank you for all your support.

Parent Volunteer Needed

Mrs. Watson is looking for a parent who would spend some hours putting together picture slideshows of 5 children’s books.  It will involve scanning photos in the book, or taking photos and inserting them into Google slides.  If you are interested in this task please reach out to [email protected].

Sharing The Hope Difference

We’ve learned from our admissions interviews that an overwhelming majority of our applicants come to our school because of word-of-mouth recommendations from our school community.  We are thankful that you are our best advertisers.

Do you know of a family ready to explore education options for their child?  Do you have friends or family looking for a school that offers more than just an academic education, one that you can call home?

Please forward this digital information card and encourage them to check out The Hope Difference.

Middle School Tripleball (precursor to Volleyball) Team Coaching – Volunteers needed

Our Middle School students are forming a tripleball team and looking for help from parents. We are looking for someone who loves the sport of volleyball and would like to be involved in our Middle school team. We are looking for at least one coach and this will count towards your volunteer hours.  A current Criminal Record Clearance (CRC) is required to be on file with the school. If you are able to spare an hour a week to help coach our students and get them ready for tripleball tournaments we would greatly appreciate it. Please reach out to either school campus office if you are interested. Tentatively this will happen on Mondays, but schedule can be discussed further.

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We meet outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 8:45 – 9:15 am (except for holidays).

Last Call for Nominations

The PTL Executive positions are 2-year commitments and after the two years, the position is to be open for nominations to give any interested parents an opportunity to serve on the Executive.  The roles of President and Vice-President are now open for nominations.

President Overview

The PTL (Parent/Teacher League) exists to sponsor and/or assist in various school events and functions throughout the year.  The role of the President functions as an administrator, overseeing the running of the PTL and ensuring all committees are staffed with an adequate number of parent volunteers.

The President acts as a liaison between the school administration and the parent membership, understanding the current needs of the school and is responsible for reporting back to the PTL membership by way of bimonthly meetings via video conference.  The President also communicates to the membership on a regular basis through various forms provided by the school.

Where necessary, the President initiates event planning for parents to coordinate and execute.

Working with the PTL Treasurer, the President is responsible for the Parent Participation Program and manages the administration of the program policy and processes.

Please contact the PTL at [email protected] if you would like more information or to nominate yourself or someone else for these roles.
