On Saturday March 18th, Mr. Mayer will be at Kinder Books in New Westminster (810 Quayside Dr #101, New Westminster, BC). Mr. Mayer will be signing copies of his book (Leroy the Raccoon) and would love to see you there if you are free! (Swing by Kinder Books anytime from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm)

On Sunday, March 19th, Mr. Mayer will be leading a story time with arts and crafts at Kinder Books! Come at 9:30 AM and head upstairs (by the circus school). Mr. Mayer will be doing a reading and sharing a message on the topic of friendship. After this, children will have the opportunity to create a craft based on the book. The event is free but you will need to sign up so there will be enough materials for everyone. To sign up, click on this LINK.

Thank you from the Berg Family

As many of you know, Mrs. Berg has been off work since mid-February after having a mass removed from her abdomen. Thanks be to God that all results have come back benign and that she is recovering well at home. The Berg Family would like to thank the Hope community for their prayers, well-wishes, gifts of food and support. We look forward to seeing Mrs. Berg return to school after Spring Break. Thanks be to God for His healing hand in Mrs. Berg’s life.

Parents/caregivers – you must be at McLean Park to supervise your children during Km Club.

Use this Signup form to register by March 15th!

  • Volunteers are needed to help run KM Club.  If you are interested in volunteering please SIGN UP HERE.
  • We are looking for 4 parents to help on Friday, March 17, at 9:00 am to clean up the KM Club materials (wristbands, etc) and prepare for the first run. If interested please contact Maik at maikhassel@gmail.com or text/whatsapp at 604.315.8446.

Chapel Offering for UGM

There is only 1 more week before spring break, and therefore only one more opportunity to bring in donations for the Union Gospel Mission, during our weekly Chapel offering.  While money donations are helpful and appreciated we are also collecting tangible items that are a great service to their community. Students will be able to bring items up to the front during our Wednesday chapels. Items such as NEW adult socks and underwear (large size both genders), personal toiletries (toothpaste, soap, etc), and tins of coffee are most appreciated.

Grade 8 Mission Trip Fundraising

Purdy’s Easter Chocolate Fundraiser

Support our Grade 8 Missions Team:  Our goal is to raise $1,000.00 so we need your help—but don’t worry, all the work you’re doing is choosing which chocolates to order.

Stock up on beautiful Easter gift boxes, fun chocolate bunnies, Sweet Georgia Browns and more. All profits will go directly to the Grade 8 mission trip. So satisfy those cravings, get all your Easter gift-shopping done while supporting a great cause.

The deadline to order is Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

What you need:

Once orders close, we’ll notify everyone when and where you can collect your treats

(Pick up will be either April 5th and/or April 6th)

Please share with anyone you know who might be interested. It would help us so much.

On-line Purdy’s Easter Catalogue

March 17 – $2 Dress Down Day

This Friday, March 17th wear green for $2 and support the Grade 8’s in the fundraising for their missions trip in April and graduation in June.

Beverage Returns

Another way to support missions fundraising – donate your returnable beverage containers.

Labels with our school’s QR code can be obtained in either campus office or printed at any Express Return-It depot by entering the number 604-111-2222 into the keypad on the Return-It kiosk at the depot (note, this is not a valid phone number but an access code to print labels).

Consider taking a labelled bag to your place of work and having your colleagues donate their beverage containers.  All proceeds raised will go directly towards the spring mission trip.

When returning items, please ensure the label has been scanned at the kiosk.

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We meet outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 8:45 – 9:15 am (except for holidays).

Parent Teacher League (PTL) News

Recent PTL Meeting

Please review the minutes from our recent PTL meeting and provide any changes to the PTL via email at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca.

Reimbursement Cheques Ready

Those parents who completed partial hours, you have a reimbursement cheque ready for pickup in the Elementary Campus office.

If your family completed a minimum of 15 hours participation, your money was not credited to the PTL account.

Connecting

The PTL will host a coffee fellowship this Friday, March 17th.  This is an excellent way to connect with other parents and get to know someone new over a cup of coffee and a baked treat.

The PTL has created a group Facebook page that is private to our Community.  We hope that by having this page, it will give Hope parents a one-stop resource for all our signups and other pertinent messaging.  Please ask to join the HLCS Parent Community private group page and answer the two security questions.

Participation Opportunities

Please view the list of Participation Opportunities for other areas to serve.

Upcoming Events

Please refer to our PTL Community Calendar for a list of upcoming events.

The current parent coordinators of our popular Father/Daughter dance are looking for successors to step forward and shadow them as they plan our upcoming dance scheduled for Friday, April 28th.  This is a very popular event enjoyed by all K-5 girls and we need to have parents of the younger grades brought into the Coordinator roles to keep this event going for future years.  Please contact the PTL at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca if you are interested in learning about this event.
