Parent Teacher League (PTL) News

  1) Next PTL Meeting:  Friday, January 11, 2019.  Everyone is invited to attend!

  2) Save the Date:  Father Daughter Dance Friday, January 25, 2019.  Tickets will be going out in the form of a Sign-Up Genius.  Please watch for information in next week’s Monday Note.

  4) Hot Lunch will be on Friday, January 25.

Reading Link

Reading Link is looking for volunteers to read books and create study questions for the grade 4 & 5 students.  The work can be done entirely at home and usually awards 8 – 10 hours of volunteer time.

A strong proficiency of the English language is required.  If interested, please email [email protected]

Parents in Prayer

For the school year, a parent from the Port Coquitlam campus has organized a once a month prayer time for parents/family members of Hope Lutheran Christian School.

Please join us on the first Tuesday of each month for Parent Prayer. We will meet from 8:55 – 9:30 am and pray for our children, our families, the Staff and Teachers at Hope and our Community of Port Coquitlam. We will share and learn from one another, be inspired by Bible readings on prayer and of course – we will pray together! Email Tina Goetz for more info: [email protected]

Location: Please meet in the Narthex/Foyer of the Port Coquitlam Campus at 8:55 am on Tuesday, January 8.

Grade 5 Boys Basketball

Practices resume this week. Tuesday 3:15 – 4:45 pm and Wednesday 7:00 – 8:00 am. Our grade five basketball tournament is February 19 at Assumption. Stay tuned for more info about tournament and games this month and in February. All games will be after school.

Beauty And The Beast Practices

Beauty and the Beast Practices this week after school, Wednesday, January 9 and Friday, January 11.  Please refer to the practice schedule for the scene and song being practiced each day.

Dress Down Days

As a way to support our middle school students heading to LEST (Lutheran Elementary Schools Tournament) in Portland, Oregon in February, we will be having a $2 dress down day, Friday, January 11.  Thank you for dressing down and supporting our students as they prepare to head to LEST!

Chess Club

Chess Club will be starting up on Tuesday, January 15 for grades 3-5.  It will run every Tuesday at lunch until the middle of March. Sign up with Mrs. Shortt/Mrs. Chifan or Mrs. Kang by Friday, January 11 as there is are limited spots available.

Academie Duello

We are excited to welcome Academie Duello to our school on Monday, January 21.  They will be running a physical education workshop for grades 1-5 that will teach: swordplay fundamentals (movement, posture, offense, and defence), balance, grace, poise, hand eye coordination, agility, dexterity and much more.  A letter (Acknowledgement of Risk and Informed Consent) was sent home today for parents to sign and return to classroom teachers by Wednesday, January 16.

For the upcoming months, February – June,  the PTL is introducing a new company called The Lunch Lady for our Hot Lunch Program.

Hope Lutheran Umbrellas

Our West Coast winter is definitely here and we have official Hope Lutheran Christian School umbrellas for sale!  These are amazing umbrellas with an extra large canopy for maximum coverage.  They sell  for $25 each, and are available to purchase from the school office, at both campuses.
