The K-12 Health Check contains the most up-to-date B.C. health guidelines and is user-friendly for children to complete daily. This resource can assist in preventative measures for families and help with the decision on whether students should attend school that day.  You can also download the app via the following links: iPhone/iPad iOS or Android devices.

Re-enrollment 2022-2023

The re-enrolment process for the 2022/23 school year will begin at the end of next week.

On Friday, February 4, all school families with students currently in grades K – 7 will receive an email containing the link to the re-enrolment information package and forms. The information package will include the 2022/23 tuition rates. Re-enrolment will close on Friday, February 18.

Beginning this year, the annual administration fee has been removed and there is now a single re-enrolment fee of $110 per student. The $250 per student prepaid tuition deposit remains unchanged.

In preparation for the re-enrolment process, please note that the re-enrolment fee(s) and prepaid tuition deposit(s) are due and required at the time the re-enrolment package is submitted.

Middle School Transition Information Meeting

Every year around this time, we have an opportunity for our Elementary parents to learn more about the Middle School program which is an important time in the K-8 learning journey.  This information is especially important for our Grade 4 and 5 parents whose children will soon step up to Grade 6.  This year, we are hosting a Zoom meeting.  The Zoom meeting is targeted for parents of our older grades but all our Elementary parents are most welcome to attend it to know more about the Middle School program.

This meeting will be held on Thursday, January 27 at 7:00 pm.  Please register for this event using the link below.  You will automatically be sent the Zoom link after registration.   The meeting will be recorded for those who are not able to attend.

Chapel Offering for UGM

During our January-March we typically collect toiletries for the Union Gospel Mission (UGM) as part of our chapel offerings along with any money we collect.  With the continuing COVID restrictions it has changed what they are able to offer in their ministry to the homeless.  This year they are asking for tins of coffee, as they hand out 600-700 cups a day.  To save space in storing these we are asking families wishing to offer coffee to this ministry to hold on to the tins until February 10, at which point students can bring them to school and we can store them until UGM visits on February 17 to present our chapel message.

Lice Check

Forms are due this Wednesday, January 26.  Parents, if you have not done so already, please conduct a lice check at home with your child(ren) and return a signed copy of the form provided indicating you have completed this.

LICE CHECK FORM – (please complete & send back to teacher)

We are also attaching documents to help with the steps of a lice check and more information on what lice is, how to detect, and treat.

The 2021-2022 Yearbook

Once again, we are excited to partner with Jostens in developing a yearbook that will display special moments for all of us, including individual photos of our school family, as well as candid shots and amazing collages!

If you would like to order a yearbook the cost is $25.  Yearbooks can be ordered with this link: Hope Lutheran Christian School, following the ordering instructions, or using a Yearbook order form, available through the school office.  If ordering with the yearbook form payment is by cheque only (to Hope Lutheran School), no cash. The cutoff for ordering a yearbook is April 1, 2022.  Thank you for your support in ensuring we have yet another amazing yearbook to showcase our students’ memories at Hope this academic year!

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We will be meeting outside at the elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 9:00 – 9:30 am (except for holidays).

Parent Teacher League (PTL) News

Parent Volunteering

A reminder for parents to be sure to track your participation hours on the spreadsheet sent by your Class Liaison in September.  The sheets will close on January 31 and hours tallied.

A grounds cleanup of the York Street property will take place on Saturday, February 4 starting at 9:00 am, rain or shine.  Six parents are needed to weed garden beds and rake leaves.  Please bring your own gloves and gardening tools.  Please sign up to attend.

Chocolate Bar and Dumpling Sales

Thank you to everyone who ordered dumplings.  Orders will be ready for pick up at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 28, at the Elementary Campus only and CASH ONLY payment will be taken at the time of pickup ($20/bag).  Please bring your own shopping bag.

Proceeds will benefit the Grade 8 missions project, in partnership with BC Mission Boat Society, happening at the end of March.

Also on January 28, a Purdy’s chocolate bar sale will take place at both campuses to fund the grades 5 and 8 year-end celebrations.  The bars sold on this date will be specially wrapped for Chinese New Year.  Please pre-order your quantities using this online form:  Purdy’s Chocolate Bars.  Standard and specialty bars available from $2-$4 per item.  This form will be open until the end of day Tuesday, January 25.

A second sale will take place on Friday, February 11, just in time for Valentine’s Day, which you will be able to pre-order for as well.

Newsletter

Submissions are open for the February newsletter.  Do you have an achievement or special event you’d like to share? How about a story of wonder or exploring God’s creation?  What about some kudos to inspire others or ideas for intentional acts of kindness?

Please send your submissions to Lisa Klym at [email protected].

Hope Prayer Community – Happening Tomorrow

Join us in person tomorrow evening, January 25, at 7:30 pm in the chapel, at the Elementary campus, for a time of small group prayer.

With many major decisions in front of both the church & school, we want to be a praying community.  We desire to lean on the Lord, constantly seeking His wisdom, guidance and encouragement.

People of all languages are welcome; prayer does not need to be done in English.  Whether you are comfortable praying in public or not, you are welcome.  There is no signup; please, come as you are.
