Upcoming Purdy’s Chocolate Bar Fundraiser

As a way to help our Hope families celebrate Chinese New Year (February 1) and Valentine’s Day (February 14), the Grade 5 and 8 classes will be holding a Purdy’s chocolate bar fundraiser after school in the days leading up to these two special events. The funds will be used to help cover the costs associated with the Grade 5 Celebration and Grade 8 Grad at the end of the school year as well as the Grade 8 mission trip at the end of March. Chocolate bars will be just $2 or $3 depending on the type/size and Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day chocolate bar wrappers will be available.

More details to come!

Open House

We’ve learned from our admissions interviews that an overwhelming majority of our applicants come to our school because of word-of-mouth recommendations from our school community.  We are thankful that you, our parents, are our best advertisers.

Do you know of a family ready to explore education options for their child?  Do you have friends or family looking for a school that offers more than just an academic education, one that you can call home?  Invite them to attend our virtual open house on January 20th.

Please pick up an open house postcard in the office or forward this digital information sheet and encourage them to check out The Hope Difference.  Registration is online at hopelcs.ca/school

Lice Check

We are asking all our elementary families to please conduct a lice check at home with their child(ren) and return a signed copy of the form provided indicating you have completed this. Students are to return the form to their teacher by Wednesday, January 26.

LICE CHECK FORM – (please complete & send back to teacher)

We are also attaching documents to help with the steps of a lice check and more information on what lice is, how to detect, and treat.  If you have further questions please contact Gail Madanayake at [email protected].

The 2021-2022 Yearbook

Once again, we are excited to partner with Jostens in developing a yearbook that will display special moments for all of us, including individual photos of our school family, as well as candid shots and amazing collages!

If you would like to order a yearbook the cost is $25.  Yearbooks can be ordered with this link: Hope Lutheran Christian School, following the ordering instructions, or using a Yearbook order form, available through the school office.  If ordering with the yearbook form payment is by cheque only (to Hope Lutheran School), no cash. The cutoff for ordering a yearbook is April 1, 2022.  Thank you for your support in ensuring we have yet another amazing yearbook to showcase our students’ memories at Hope this academic year!

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We will be meeting outside at the elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 9:00 – 9:30 am (except for holidays).

Two or three parents are needed to help cut out paper hearts in preparation for our Intentional Acts of Kindness challenge in February.  Please email Lisa at [email protected] if you are interested in helping from home.  Paper will be provided.

An ongoing list of volunteer opportunities can be found here:  2021-22 Volunteer Opportunities

Upcoming PTL Meeting
