2023-24 Re-enrolment Period for Current Families

Early each calendar year our current families are required to complete and submit re-enrolment forms to secure their child(ren)’s space(s) for the upcoming school year. The School provides a 2 week window for families to complete this process.

The 2023/24 school year re-enrolment period is now open and will close at 4:00 PM, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10th.

Please refer to the email sent out to families on Friday, January 27 for the information and forms required for re-enrolment.

This is an important time for the school community as this sets the framework for what classes will look like for the 2023-24 school year.  We thank you for the attention and promptness you will put in your response during this re-enrolment period.

Employment Opportunity – On Call Elementary Recess Supervisor

We are looking for people to be Elementary Campus On-call Recess Supervisors to help cover our current supervisors should they need to be away for their day.  A CRC will be required and first aid training is preferred but not required.  Please submit your resume to [email protected].

Scholastic Book Fair

It’s here! Our school’s Scholastic Book Fair has begun! Students will be able to shop after school today and tomorrow, January 30 & 31, from 3:00 – 3:45 pm.

And don’t forget! Even if you can’t join us in the school, you can experience the joy of our Book Fair online by visiting our Virtual Book Fair Extension on the same dates! Any books purchased via this link over the next 2 days will be delivered to school by Friday.

Remember, all purchases benefit our school and earn Rewards that can be redeemed for books and Education Resources for our school’s classrooms and library.

Thank you for participating in our Scholastic Book Fair!

Happy Reading!

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Stiles ([email protected]).

Candy Gram Fundraiser

Our Grade 5’s will be organizing their second fundraiser – candy grams for Valentine’s Day.  For $2, students can purchase individual Candy Grams (whole sheets contain 12 Candy Grams) for classmates, friends, or big/little buddies and the candy grams will be delivered by our very own Grade 5’s on Valentine’s Day.  The candy grams will be individually packaged and are Covid friendly.  The candy gram sheets are due tomorrow, January 31.  Please help support our Grade 5 year end celebration by purchasing candy grams.

Used Book Sale

Are you looking for some new books to read? Class 3A is holding a used-book sale after school on February 24th in the gym! All funds raised will be donated to the BC Cancer Foundation, and books that are not sold will be donated to Western Sky Books in Port Coquitlam. We are inviting all students in all grades to check if they have unused books, in good condition, at home and to consider donating them to this initiative. If you have any books at home that you don’t want anymore, please send them to the grade 3A classroom (room 209) by February 17th. Thank you so much, and don’t forget to drop by the gym after school on February 24th to get some new reads!

Beverage Returns

Another way to support missions fundraising – donate your returnable beverage containers.

Labels with our school’s QR code can be obtained in either campus office or printed at any Express Return-It depot by entering the number 604-111-2222 into the keypad on the Return-It kiosk at the depot (note, this is not a valid phone number but an access code to print labels).

All proceeds raised will go directly towards the spring mission trip.

Hearts For Hope Gala Tickets

We are super excited to announce that tickets to our Hearts for Hope Gala on February 25 are now on sale online at Eventbrite.  This is THE signature fundraising event for our school’s Bursary Program featuring the amazing musical talents of the Hope community.  Come and enjoy an evening of stories, music, food and silent auction fun where we will take care of your kids for you.  Grab another family and get your tickets today!

Message from BC Health Services Authority

It’s respiratory illness season. Wear a mask if you are sick and cannot stay away from others. Learn how to protect yourself and your family with information at this LINK.

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We meet outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 8:45 – 9:15 am (except for holidays).

CommUNITY Relations

Newsletter

Submissions are open for the February newsletter.  During February we hold our annual Intentional Acts of Kindness challenge.  What do you do to extend kindness to others?  Are you serving in a ministry or volunteering in a community group?  If so, we’d like to hear from you. Inspire others to do good by sharing your story.  Please email to Lisa Klym at [email protected].

Upcoming Events

Please refer to our Community Calendar for a list of events throughout the year.

Parent Teacher League (PTL) News

The PTL has created a group Facebook page that is private to our Community.  We hope that by having this page, it will give Hope parents a one-stop resource for all our signups and other pertinent messaging.  Please ask to join the HLCS Parent Community private group page and answer the two security questions.

Participation Opportunities

PLEASE NOTE, the deadline to record your participation hours is tomorrow, January 31st.  After that date, the Term 1 sheets will be closed and hours tallied.  Term 2 sheets will be shared with all parents early February.

  • Parents to provide home-baked goods to sell at the Grade 8 Bake Sale on March 2 during student-led conferences. (Grade 8 students and parents are supplying the bulk of the baked goods but opportunity is given for any parent to provide home baking in exchange for participation hours. Contact Lisa at [email protected] to participate.)
  • Do you enjoy photography and capturing special moments?  The Grade 8 Grad Committee is looking for a parent to take high-quality photos of our Grade 8 students in individual and group shots for their graduation celebration.  The photographer will need to capture candid moments of our smiling students.  Photo day will be some time in May at Aggie Park, adjacent to our middle school campus.  Please contact Lisa Klym at [email protected] to volunteer or to see examples of desired shots.

Please view the list of Participation Opportunities for other areas to serve.

Prayer Community

Wondering about a new year’s resolution?  How about making prayer a priority for 2023?  Join our community of prayer partners as we gather each week at the Elementary Campus entrance and each month in the Chapel to pray for our school community and beyond.
Prayer meetings take place every Monday at 8:45 am outside the Elementary entrance and the last Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Elementary Chapel – all are welcome and children are encouraged to participate in the evening prayer time.

Our next evening gathering is Tuesday, January 31 at 7:30 pm – hope to see you there.
