2023-24 Re-enrolment Period for Current Families

Re-enrolment for our current school families for the 2023-2024 school year will be opening on Friday, January 27 and will close Friday, February 10.  Please watch your email for the 2023-24 Re-enrolment forms that will be sent Friday, January 27.  This is an important time for the school community as this sets the framework for what classes will look like for the 2023-24 school year.  We thank you for the attention and promptness you will put in your response during the upcoming re-enrolment period.

Employment Opportunity – On Call Elementary Recess Supervisor

We are looking for people to be Elementary Campus On-call Recess Supervisors to help cover our current supervisors should they need to be away for their day.  A CRC will be required and first aid training is preferred but not required.  Please submit your resume to jwatson@hopelcs.ca.

Drop Off and Pick Up

Thank you to the vast majority of our parents who continue to show patience and adherence to our drop off and pick up procedures.  However, we have noticed an increase in disputes/disagreements within our parent community and with our neighbours regarding these times.  Please note that:

  1. We do not stop or park on Frey street.  It is easily congested and restricts flow.  You may use Frey to drive through at a reduced speed, but please do not stop or park on either side of that road.
  2. Parking lot drop off is at the BACK of the lot.  Do not stop or park in the front parking area, but drive through to the back (by the overpass) to let out your students.  This is the most time efficient way to let out students and not cause a traffic backlog in the lot.
  3. Please park in the appropriate spots at McLean Park or along York street.  At no time are drivers permitted to stop at the crosswalk or driveway to let out students.
  4. For the safety of all our children, ALL vehicles are to come to a complete stop at each stop line (Grant Ave. & Frey Pl.), looking both ways before proceeding.

If you notice people not following the expectations, please approach respectfully with grace and mercy to point out their mistake in a calm and peaceful manner. By following the expectations listed in our Handbook and registration booklet we can ensure a community of respect and safety for all.

Open House – January 24

We’ve learned from our admissions interviews that an overwhelming majority of our applicants come to our school because of word-of-mouth recommendations from our school community.  We are thankful that you, our parents, are our best advertisers.Do you know of a family looking for a great school to call home?  Please tell them about your experience with Hope and refer them to our website at hopelcs.ca/school to register their attendance for our open house taking place tomorrow – Tuesday, January 24th 6:30 pm.

You may use this digital flyer to forward to your contacts.

Candy Gram Fundraiser

Our Grade 5’s will be organizing their second fundraiser – candy grams for Valentine’s Day.  For $2, students can purchase candy grams for classmates, friends, or big/little buddies and the candy grams will be delivered by our very own Grade 5’s on Valentine’s Day.  The candy grams will be individually packaged and are Covid friendly.  The candy gram sheets will be going out to the students tomorrow, Tuesday, January 24, and the deadline for the submission of the candy gram sheets will be Tuesday, January 31.  Please help support our Grade 5 year end celebration by purchasing candy grams.

Beverage Returns

Another way to support missions fundraising – donate your returnable beverage containers.

Labels with our school’s QR code can be obtained in either campus office or printed at any Express Return-It depot by entering the number 604-111-2222 into the keypad on the Return-It kiosk at the depot (note, this is not a valid phone number but an access code to print labels).

All proceeds raised will go directly towards the spring mission trip.

CommUNITY Relations

Newsletter

Submissions are open for the February newsletter.  During February we hold our annual Intentional Acts of Kindness challenge.  What do you do to extend kindness to others?  Are you serving in a ministry or volunteering in a community group?  If so, we’d like to hear from you. Inspire others to do good by sharing your story.  Please email to Lisa Klym at lklym@hopelcs.ca.
