Valentine’s Day Dress Down

In celebration of Valentine’s Day we are collecting $2 for students wanting to dress down in their red/pink/white clothes.  Money collected will be donated to CLWR’s Turkey/Syria Earthquake Relief Efforts.

Elementary Recess Supervisor Needed

We have openings on our Elementary Campus Recess Supervision team and are looking for regularly scheduled spots to be filled as well as on call people to cover in the event our regularly schedule supervisor is unable to come in. A CRC will be required and first aid training is preferred but not required.  Please submit your resume to jwatson@hopelcs.ca.

Drop Off and Pick Up UPDATE

Thank you to the vast majority of our parents who continue to show patience and adherence to our drop off and pick up procedures.  However, we have been made aware of an unsafe practice by some drivers.  When exiting our school lot into the alley – please always turn to the left (towards Frey or Oxford).  There is a lot of foot traffic on York Street and this can quickly become congested with cars, making it difficult for traffic to move safely. Thank you for following the expectations listed in our Handbook and registration booklet so we can ensure a community of respect and safety for all.

Chapel Offering for UGM

For this term we are collecting for the Union Gospel Mission.  What is unique is that while money donations are helpful and appreciated we are also collecting tangible items that are a great service to their community. Students will be able to bring items up to the front during our Wednesday chapels. Items such as NEW adult socks and underwear (large size both genders), personal toiletries (toothpaste, soap, etc), and tins of coffee are most appreciated.

PI Sports Badminton

It is that time again for badminton! Coach Ken would like to express his sincere appreciation for being so patient with his leg recovery, and the many get-well emails over the last months-thank you!

As the young grades require much more physical movement, and he has yet to recover to a point where he can comfortably coach them, please note that the coming winter months of February and March, lessons will only be open for grades 6 to 8. Elementary grades 1 through 5 will begin from spring in April.

Please register in the appropriate time slot for your child, and he hopes to see all of you again soon!

Note:

  • During the signup process, please put your “child’s name” under the “My Comment” tab, and the parent’s name under this area (First, Last) along with your email.
  • Please ensure your child wears indoor shoes during class, and to bring their rackets if they have one

Used Book Sale

Are you looking for some new books to read? Class 3A is holding a used-book sale after school on February 24th in the gym! All funds raised will be donated to the BC Cancer Foundation, and books that are not sold will be donated to Western Sky Books in Port Coquitlam. We are inviting all students in all grades to check if they have unused books, in good condition, at home and to consider donating them to this initiative. If you have any books at home that you don’t want anymore, please send them to the grade 3A classroom (room 209) by February 17th. Thank you so much, and don’t forget to drop by the gym after school on February 24th to get some new reads!

Up to $6000 has been pledged for matching all ticket and auction sales.

Beverage Returns

Another way to support missions fundraising – donate your returnable beverage containers.

Labels with our school’s QR code can be obtained in either campus office or printed at any Express Return-It depot by entering the number 604-111-2222 into the keypad on the Return-It kiosk at the depot (note, this is not a valid phone number but an access code to print labels).

Consider taking a labelled bag to your place of work and having your colleagues donate their beverage containers.  All proceeds raised will go directly towards the spring mission trip.

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We meet outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 8:45 – 9:15 am (except for holidays).
