Parent Teacher League (PTL) News

Wishing You A Very Merry Christmas

The PTL Executive would like to thank all parents who have contributed towards the success of our school this term.  Without you, many activities could not take place. Every time you lend your time and talent, you are impacting the life of a child.

We hope you have enjoyed the events we have brought you so far and we look forward to bringing you more community events in the new year.

May each family have a blessed and merry Christmas as we celebrate the birth of the Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Please join us on Friday, January 10 for our next PTL General meeting, 9:00 am, at the Port Coquitlam Campus.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year!

Parent Volunteer Hours

REMINDER TO ALL PARENTS:  Please remember to record your Parent Volunteer Hours as you complete them on your youngest child’s spreadsheet.  Term 1 ends on January 31 and after that date, the sheets will be closed. Please ensure you record any eligible hours prior to January 31, 2020.

Community Relations

Calling All People!

There are many roles to fill to help make Bethlehem Walk a successful outreach to our community.  This year we have received a generous grant from the City of Port Coquilam’s Community Cultural Development Investment Program and our Mayor, Council and City Staff will be invited to attend.  Let’s make this year the best year ever!

Please sign up where you can.  These roles are designed to fit with your child’s performance schedule so you won’t miss a thing!  Nightly Production Assistance

Parking Lot Closure

Reminder that the parking lot will be closed to all users this week, as our tent is set up and ready for our Bethlehem Walk performances.

Bethlehem Walk: Student Arrivals/Performances

On the evening of the performances students are required to arrive 30 minutes before the start time – Shift 1 arrives at 6:00 pm, Shift 2 arrives at 7:00 pm.  This is to ensure they have enough time to get into their costume and any last minute prep. Students will enter the South Wing (grade 3-5 classroom building) and go to their assigned classrooms.  Parents/Guardians will need to sign their child(ren) in AND out. Sign out will happen in the same classroom that students arrived at. Shift 1 students should be signed out at 7:30 pm, Shift 2 students should be signed out at 8:30 pm.  Please note that once students are signed out they are expected to remain with their parent/guardian at all times.

Wednesday – LATE START

Reminder that school will not be open in the morning on Wednesday, December 18.  Students will be able to enter the building at 12:30 pm.

STEAM Program

Starting in the new year there will be a new after-school program offered – the STEAM program (fees apply). The STEAM program is for learning Singing, Arts, and Speaking and is available for students in Kindergarten to grade 5.  The programs will take place at the Port Coquitlam campus, 3:00 – 4:40 pm, from Monday to Friday. Please see the following signup link: STEAM PROGRAM SIGN UP

Father Daughter Dance

Last Friday invitations were sent home with your daughter for the upcoming Father Daughter Dance. To reserve your tickets log on to the Sign up genius via the January 6, 2020, Monday Note. Tickets are only confirmed once payment is received by Friday January 10, 202, at the very latest. Please see Mrs. Klassen, at the Port Coquitlam campus office, to pay and pick up your tickets

Grade 5 Girls Basketball

Grade 5 girls basketball practices will continue on Wednesdays in the new year.  Details of start date to follow. We are also looking to organize a couple of different playing opportunities in the community – stay tuned.

Family Ski Day – POSTPONED

Due to lack of snow, the Family Ski Day is being postponed to February 28.  This day is a student led conference day; therefore, families who are going skiing should go for their conference on February 27.  All information submitted will be transferred to the new date. If you are no longer able to attend and require a refund, please email Mrs. Olding ([email protected]). If you are now able to attend and would like to be added to this event, there may be some spaces available.  ALL CHANGES MUST BE MADE BY JANUARY 17, 2020. Please contact Mrs. Olding for more information.

Hope Lutheran Junior Youth (Grades 5-8)

Junior Youth is a ministry of Hope Lutheran Church for all students in grades 5-8 to grow in friendships and faith!

From all of us at Junior Youth, God’s blessings to you this Christmas! See you in 2020!

To join our email list, please email Mrs. Stephanie Mayer ([email protected]).

Blessings!

Volunteer Bakers Wanted in the New Year

We are looking for multiple volunteers to make 24-36 sugar cookies each (in a star shape) for the last week of January. This will be for a Spirit Week activity for the whole school. Any nut-free sugar cookie recipe is fine; however a recipe can be provided upon request. Cookie cutters will be available at the school beginning in January. Cookies can be dropped off at anytime before the Christmas holidays or during school hours until January 30. Please contact Mrs. MacLean in person or at [email protected], if you can help make this Spirit Week activity happen.

Yearbook Orders

Once again, we are excited to partner with Jostens in developing a yearbook that will display special moments for all of us, including individual photos of our school family, as well as candid shots and amazing collages!

You may order your yearbook for $25. The deadline for ordering yearbooks is January 31, 2020.

CHEQUE:

*Pick up an order form from the office, complete it, make a cheque out to Hope Lutheran School and return both to the school

*On the cheque subject line, please write your child’s name, their class,  and “Yearbook 2019/20”

ONLINE: go to the following link and follow the instructions
