Middle School Information Evening

We would like to invite all Elementary school parents to join us for a presentation about our Middle school.  We know that this is of particular interest for our 4th and 5th grade parents as their children prepare for Grade 6.  However, we also are aware that many new families and those in younger grades would like to know more about the Middle school program.  Therefore we are opening this presentation to all parents.  Please register your attendance to get a Zoom link to the presentation by Miss Nast and Mr. Lok.

Date: Tuesday, December 15, 2020

Time: 7:30-8:30PM

Registration for Zoom link:   https://forms.gle/2RyjpB4bZyNMWKBT8

Due to current restrictions, we are not able to take you on a physical tour of the campus.  Please stay tuned for a link to our Virtual 3D Tour where you can explore the campus with your children.

No School – Friday, December 18

A reminder that with the current COVID restrictions on our Christmas concert plans our school calendar changed as a result. There is a FULL DAY of classes this Thursday, December 17 and  there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, December 18.

Christmas Concert Presentation

The students have done a wonderful job preparing and performing their music pieces for our virtual Christmas concert.  We will be premiering 2 separate concerts Friday, December 18 on our school’s Facebook page.  Our ‘A’ Classes Concert (all A classes and Grades 6 and 8) will premiere at 6:00 pm  Our ‘B’ Classes Concert (all B classes and Grades 6 and 8) will premiere at 6:30 pm. Once the premiere is done you will be able to access the video from the Facebook page afterwards.

“I’ll be Home for Christmas” – Hope Lutheran Church

Since provincial health regulations prevent worship gatherings at this time, the only option for Hope Lutheran Church as we celebrate the birth of Jesus this year is “I’ll be Home for Christmas” – an online Christmas Eve service. A team of dedicated volunteers has been working hard over the last two months to put together a creative, community-participation Christmas Eve service.

Some of those worship elements include:

  1. Bible readings and prayers – read and led by various members of the church
  2. Puppet Show and children’s message – led by Pastor Hautz
  3. “Proclaim… with the Shepherds” – a Christmas message by Pastor Hautz
  4. Silent Night (and other favourite carols) – sung by various members of the church
  5. Christmas decoration scenes from around the church

If you don’t have a church family to join (online) on Christmas Eve, please accept our invitation to join Hope Lutheran for “I’ll be Home for Christmas.” The service will be presented on December 24, at 4:30 pm. You’ll find it at this link: https://www.facebook.com/hopelcspoco/live/

Wishing you all a very blessed Christmas!!

From Pastor Laverne Hautz, Stephanie Mayer, and all the members of Hope Lutheran Church

Hope Lutheran Junior Youth

Junior Youth is a ministry of Hope Lutheran Church for students in grades 5-8, connecting students with Jesus and one another.

Junior Youth is finished for the 2020 calendar year! Have a wonderful Christmas break, and we look forward to seeing you in 2021!

Have questions? Please email Mrs. Stephanie Mayer ([email protected]).

Blessings!

Help Needed

Do you have some time free on Tuesday, December 22?  We need 5 volunteers from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm to help move what’s on our Port Coquitlam gym stage to temporary storage near Lougheed Mall.  A moving truck will be utilised but we need some strong helping hands to move the items from the stage into the moving truck and then offload into the storage area.  If you are able to assist on Tuesday, December 22, please email Lisa Klym at [email protected].  Volunteers will need to meet at the Port Coquitlam Campus to load and transport themselves to unload at Lougheed Mall location.

Port Coquitlam Campus Lunch Monitoring

In Term One, we had a dedicated group of 25 parents volunteering on a weekly basis at lunch hour.  This was very helpful in allowing teachers to have a much needed lunch break.

Thank you, Parents, for all of your help!

We are now looking for volunteers to help out at lunch hour in Term Two (January-March 2021).  We will need a commitment of at least once a week on a regular schedule.  If interested, please contact [email protected]

Community Relations

Submissions are open for the January newsletter.  Do you have an achievement to share or a service project you’ve engaged in?  How about a new year’s resolution challenge?

Please submit your stories, including any applicable photos, to Lisa Klym at [email protected].
