Used Book Sale

The Grade 2 classes will be hosting a used book sale in our school gym after school on Friday, May 17th.  We will be raising money to support our chapel offerings in purchasing desks and chairs for needy students in Nicaragua.  You may help support this project in two ways. First please look through your books at home (ask friends and neighbours) and find any gently used books that are not needed anymore and bring them into either grade 2 class (rooms 202 and 203) by May 2nd.  Second, please come out and support our grade 2 student by stopping by and purchasing some books. The students will be busy until that date, sorting, pricing, and practicing how to collect and give change.

Thanks to all our parent volunteer coaches for making our grade 3 and 4 basketball season a great success! All our teams played very well in their respective tournaments.

Track and Field

Track and Field season started today, April 15! We are planning practices for all grade 4 & 5 students on Mondays from 9:00 – 10:00 am; Wednesdays from 10:45 am – 12:00 pm; and Fridays from 1:45 – 2:45 pm. Parent volunteers are needed – no experience is required.  Some of the volunteer responsibilities could include recording times or distances and helping monitor student behaviour. A volunteer training time takes place today, April 15, from 3:30 – 4:15 pm for any interested parents who are able to attend. Please contact Mrs. Olding with any questions or concerns ([email protected])

All grade 4 & 5 students will participate in an in-school track meet at Percy Perry Stadium on May 16. Selected students will attend an inter-school Christian Elementary School Sports (CESS) track meet at Swangard Stadium (in Burnaby) on May 28. Parent volunteers will be required to make both of these events a success.  More information will follow.

Triathlon Teams

We have a total of 40 students taking part in the triathlon this year.  Teams have been posted outside the chapel for students and parents to check.

Triathlon Run & Bike Practice – Update!

This will take place rain or shine.

Friday, April 19 at 9:00 am all students who are participating in the Triathlon as a biker and runner are invited to come to Hyde Creek for a practice on the actual route for their safety and familiarity with the routes.  Swimmers are also welcome to join as but it is strongly suggested that bikers and runners attend this guided practice. We will meet at 9:00 am in the grassy area of the parking lot at Hyde Creek Recreation Center on Friday, April 19 and we expect to finish by 10:00 am.  For more information about the routes for swimming, biking and running please see this link:

Students who are not able to attend the practice should go through the route on their own time.
