\"Lwmllogo\"<\/a>Several members and guests\u00a0attended the presentation\u00a0on Women in Missions in\u00a0Nicaragua, presented by\u00a0Linda Mayan, assisted by her husband, Rev. Ralph Mayan\u00a0on May 13, at our church. Linda talked about the valuable\u00a0role of women as they work along with their husbands,\u00a0visiting homes and serving in sharing the gospel\u00a0in their communities, along with providing for educational
\nopportunities for children in the local congregations.<\/p>\n

Currently 20 deaconesses serve in 23 centers in\u00a0Nicaragua. The women take classes at the Mission Center\u00a0in Chinandega, with a third group of students close to\u00a0graduation. While special projects and missions support\u00a0educational opportunities of children, the work of theSewing center and the Health and Wellness center in\u00a0Chinandega, Pastor Mayan reminded us that every congregational\u00a0member supports the mission in Nicaragua,\u00a0as our National church body provides ongoing support to\u00a0Nicaragua. We praise God that His message of love and\u00a0salvation is being preached to, received in the hearts of\u00a0the people in Nicaragua, and shared with others beyond\u00a0their boundaries.<\/p>\n

LWML\u2013Canada Editor-in-Chief, Marion Hollinger, along\u00a0with several other writers and editors from Canadian\u00a0Church Press spent March 3-10, 2013, in Israel as guests\u00a0of the Israeli tourism department and El Al Airlines.\u00a0Marion has published a photo story of the trip in Tapestry\u00a0magazine, but for those who do not subscribe, a\u00a0copy is posted on the LWML-C website.\u00a0You might want\u00a0to see the blog, by going to LWMLC News and click on\u00a0the link at the bottom of the story there. Or simply go to\u00a0http:\/\/www.lutheranwomen.ca\/publications-and-forms\/<\/a>\u00a0tapestry to view the informative photos and descriptions\u00a0of their journey to many of the places we know of\u00a0through the Old and New Testaments.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re proud to say that LWML-C turns 20 on June 20th of\u00a0this year. The Alberta-British Columbia District LWML-C\u00a0Convention being held in July in Edmonton plans to commemorate\u00a0the celebration several ways, including honoring\u00a0past presidents of the association. Isabel Tisdale\u00a0will be attending the convention as our Hope representative.\u00a0We are thankful and proud she will be present on\u00a0our behalf.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
