“The Chosen” Series at Hope\"\"<\/a><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Hope Lutheran Church has launched The Chosen<\/em> viewing gatherings\u2014an opportunity to learn more about Jesus\u2019 life through the series\u2019 fresh artistic portrayal of the Gospels. While the series doesn’t replace Scripture reading, it can help us reflect on and discuss the ministry of Christ. Our goal is to deepen community and renew our eagerness to read and trust God\u2019s Word as it is revealed in Holy Scripture.<\/p>\n

Why The Chosen<\/em>?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As Confessional Lutherans, we hold that Holy Scripture alone is God\u2019s inspired and authoritative Word. A film or series cannot replace Scripture, nor serve as a source of doctrine.<\/p>\n

The Chosen<\/em> is a tool\u2014an artistic retelling that can help us reflect, ask questions, and discuss the life and ministry of Jesus. The Chosen<\/em> brings the world of the New Testament to life, inviting us to walk alongside Jesus and His disciples. Our gatherings use the episodes to open conversation, and we always return to the Bible itself, where God speaks to us.<\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re a church member, school parent, or simply curious about Jesus\u2019 story, you are warmly invited to join us!<\/p>\n

How It Works<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Here’s the simple and flexible structure:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Two groups<\/strong> will run so more people can attend.<\/li>\n
  • Each group meets twice per month<\/strong> and watches one episode<\/strong> at each gathering.<\/li>\n
  • If you miss a date, you can\n
      \n
    • watch the episode on your own, or<\/li>\n
    • attend the other group\u2019s meeting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • You can join anytime<\/strong>\u2014just catch up on whatever episodes you missed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Group Schedules<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      Group 1 \u2013 Wednesday Evenings<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Every second Wednesday \u2022 7:00\u20139:30 PM<\/strong>
      Location: Home of Jordan & Stephanie Mayer<\/strong> (Port Coquitlam)
      Start date:<\/strong> Wednesday, January 14, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Group 2 \u2013 Saturday Mornings<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Every second Saturday \u2022 8:30\u201310:30 AM<\/strong>
      Location: Hope Lutheran Church<\/strong>
      Start date:<\/strong> Saturday, January 17, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Both groups will meet January through late May<\/strong>, with the option to continue. A fall restart is planned for September<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      • No previous Bible background is required. Just come with curiosity and an open heart.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Growing in Christ<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

        As Lutheran Christians, we confess that Holy Scripture alone is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, the source and norm of all doctrine and life. No film or artistic retelling can replace the Scriptures or stand alongside them as equal.<\/p>\n

        At the same time, we recognize that throughout history the Church has used many tools\u2014art, music, storytelling, and teaching\u2014to help God\u2019s people reflect more deeply on the Gospel. At Hope, we utilize a visual series as The Chosen<\/em> to invite conversation, encourage questions, and to renew our zest for studying the Scriptures.<\/p>\n

        The Chosen<\/em> offers a way for us to gather around the life and ministry of Jesus, and then to return to the Scriptures themselves, where God speaks to us. Our goal in these gatherings is to allow the episodes to open doors for meaningful discussion, while anchoring everything in the clear teaching of the Bible and the comfort of the Gospel.<\/p>\n

        Most of all, our prayer is that this series will help many to grow closer to Christ and His Word, living as disciples who trust in Christ alone and His promises for us today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
