Parent Teacher League (PTL) News
Family Bingo Night – Hope families are invited to a fun night of bingo on February 17. Free tickets are available at the Port Coquitlam campus office. Please pick them up so we have an idea of how many people are coming. If you wish to order pizza from San Remo Pizza for your family, order forms are available in the office. Pizza will be delivered at 6:30 pm and bingo will start at 7:00 pm. The deadline to order Pizza is end of day on Wednesday, February 15. Please pay at the office. Cheques can be made payable to Hope Lutheran PTL.

Re-registration 2017/2018
Leadership Review
A team from the SCSBC (Society of Christian Schools) will be conducting a review in the school this Thursday and Friday, February 16 & 17. The review will involve administration primarily and there will be no impact on the schedule or the educational program. We welcome this team of experts to our school.
A parent volunteer is required to set up a table, at the Port Coquitlam campus, and prepare tea/coffee for the Leadership Review team, on Thursday and Friday. If you are able to help with this or provide a dozen muffins or cookies please contact Mrs. Eisner at seisner@hopelcs.ca.
Grade 9 – 11 Parent Information Session
There will be a parent information session for grade 9 to 11 families on Tuesday, February 21, 7:00 – 8:00 pm at the Pitt Meadows campus to provide updated information about our campus plans as well as new curriculum and course planning for your son or daughter. Pink Shirt Day
Pink Shirt Day is coming up on Wednesday, February 22 and Hope encourages our students to wear a pink shirt to school that day. Each year our school focuses on treating others with kindness. In 1 John 4:19 we are read that “We love because he first loved us.” In response to God’s unconditional and sacrificial love, we respond by loving others.
Pitt Meadows Campus Sports
Basketball – Grade 7 Boys Basketball 3 on 3 tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, February 21 and the Grade 5 and 7 tournament has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 23. Parents will receive information from Mr. Mayer this week.
Badminton – Any Grade 11 or 12 students interested in playing Badminton, talk to Ms. Friesen or Ms. Klassen about coming to practices. First practice is Wednesday, February 15.
Grade 8 and Jr. (Gr.9-10) Badminton starts Wednesday, February 15 from 3:15 – 5:00 pm. Grade 8 and Jr. (Gr.9-10) Badminton Tournaments are April 28 & 29. Fee for badminton is $10 per athlete.
Grade 8 to 12 sports fee – Volleyball players $15. Basketball Players $20. Please submit cheque or cash to Miss. Friesen or Mr. Mathew.
After School Workout Club
Ms. Klassen will be opening the gym from 3:15 to 4:30 pm Monday, February 27 and March 6. Youth Unlimited will be participating with us. ALL staff and Hope students in grades 7-12 are welcome to come and get their sweat on.
After School Art Club
We are exploring options and days for an after school Art club taught by former student Jessica Hurd who was an instructor 4Cats Art Studio.
Hope Community Cookbook
Cooking tonight? Don’t forget to take a picture and submit your favourite recipes for the Hope Community Cookbook. Details can be found in the email from your class liaison.
Paid On-Call Position
Individuals interested in working on-call as a parking lot and/or playground supervisor at the Port Coquitlam campus are encouraged to submit their resume to Mrs. Eisner as soon as possible. Applicants require a thorough knowledge of traffic safety, strong communication skills, a good rapport with children, and the flexibility to work as needed. First aid is an asset. A clear criminal record check is required for this position. Training will be provided.
Pitt Meadows Spring Plans
We have exciting plans to start gardening and environmental sciences programs at the Pitt Meadows campus.
- We are seeking help in building the raised beds needed to start the gardens. Donations of lumber 2 x 4 would be greatly appreciated so that we can start to plan the garden beds.
- Our field is growing grass! We need a riding lawn mower. If you know of a good source are willing to donate funds for this please talk to Mr. Mathew or Mr. John Lok – Development Director.
Parent Prayer
A parent from the Port Coquitlam campus is organizing a once a month prayer time for parents/family members of Hope Lutheran Christian School:
