Middle School Tripleball Team Coaching

Tripleball (precursor to Volleyball) Team Coaching – Volunteers needed

Our Middle School students are forming a tripleball team and looking for help from parents. We are looking for someone who loves the sport of volleyball and would like to be involved in our Middle school team. We are looking for at least one coach and this will count towards your volunteer hours.  A current Criminal Record Clearance (CRC) is required to be on file with the school. If you are able to spare an hour a week to help coach our students and get them ready for tripleball tournaments we would greatly appreciate it.  Please reach out to either school campus office if you are interested. Tentatively this will happen on Mondays, but schedule can be discussed further.

The Well

The Well is our school once per week snack shop where students get to use their talents and serve the greater community. Profits made go towards missions and other projects around the middle school campus. There’s lots of excitement on Wednesdays! We’d like to offer a treat from time to time. If you’d like to donate baked goods at any time, we would gladly accept them. Please contact Minoli at medema@hopelcs.ca. You will receive one volunteer hour for your hard work. Thank you in advance.

Terry Fox Run  Pledge Sheets

All pledge forms need to be returned to school by THURSDAY, October 6. Cheques are to be made out to ‘Terry Fox Foundation’. Fundraising is optional. You are also able to donate online at: https://schools.terryfox.ca/HopeLutheranChristianSchool. Together, we can make a difference.

This year’s incentives for fundraising are:

  • Lunch with Mrs. Watson for the child who raises the most money
  • Extra gym/recess time/movie lunch/freezies for the class with the most pledge participation
  • Dress down day for the whole school if we raise over $3500

PTL News

We’ve learned from our admissions interviews that an overwhelming majority of our applicants come to our school because of word-of-mouth recommendations from our school community.  We are thankful that you are our best advertisers.

Do you know of a family ready to explore education options for their child?  Do you have friends or family looking for a school that offers more than just an academic education, one that you can call home?

Please forward this digital information card and encourage them to check out The Hope Difference.

Participation Opportunities

Cleaning

The elementary staff room fridges are in desperate need of cleaning.  Is there a parent willing to do this for participation hours?  You may access the staff room any time when the building is open for school, cleaning or rental groups – please notify Lisa at lklym@hopelcs.ca and coordinate with the elementary office on the date to ensure access.

Food Provision

Parent/Teacher conferences happen on October 27th.  Our staff members put in a long day meeting with parents throughout the afternoon and evening and we’d like to provide them with a meal to enjoy during their break.  Please view the signups for each campus to decide where you’d like to contribute.  Parent participation hours are noted in the signup for each requested item.

Upcoming Events

Do you have an idea for a family social event that you are able to arrange with the help of other PTL members?  We’d like to host a number of interactive activities for families throughout the school year.  Please email the PTL with your ideas for family-fun events.

Our next PTL Coffee Fellowship is next Friday, October 14th at 8:45 am in the elementary school parking lot.  All parents are encouraged to attend.

Please refer to our Community Calendar for a list of events throughout the year.

Please browse the list of ongoing opportunities and let us know where you are able to lend a hand.

PTL Executive Call for Nominations

The PTL Executive positions are 2-year commitments and after the two years, the position is to be open for nominations to give any interested parents an opportunity to serve on the Executive.

The roles of President and Vice-President are now open for nominations.  This call for nominations will be posted for four consecutive weeks and any nominations will be discussed at our November 17th PTL meeting.

The role of President has been filled by Lisa Klym for the last four years and this school year is Lisa’s final year as President.  Any parents wishing to step into this role, please email the PTL at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca.

Additionally, the role of Vice-President is vacant and available immediately for interested parents.  If you are interested in serving, have any questions or require further information, please email the PTL.

Traditionally the Executive has consisted of a President and Vice-President, however, these roles can be interchangeable and shared between parents.  The titles can also change according to the desire of the person in the leadership position.

Hope Lutheran Confirmation

Hope Lutheran Church is inviting all current Grade 7 and 8 students to participate in Confirmation! Confirmation is a period of instruction where students “confirm” what they know and believe about Jesus. At Hope, Confirmation is a series of retreats that leads students through the Christian faith. One year focuses on the Bible’s story, and the other year goes through 6 key topics of the Christian faith (like the Ten Commandments and the Lord’s Prayer). Our next retreat is on October 14-15, so if you (or your child) are interested in joining us, please send an email to Danielle at danielle.andriulaitis@hopelcs.ca
