PTL News

Volunteer Opportunities – 2019/2020 School Year

The Well:  The Well:  Our food services club, The Well, is in need of one parent a week to assist in the clean up each Friday after the meal service.  If you are able to spare an hour over the lunch period, they would greatly appreciate your assistance. Lunchtime Supervision:  We are looking for volunteers for lunchtime supervision at the Pitt Meadows Campus from 11:50 am – 12:45 pm each day.  Orientation will be provided by Ms. Nast. Baking:  Get a jump on your Christmas baking and earn some volunteer hours at the same time.  The Bethlehem Walk production, Dec. 17 & 18, requires 80 dozen pieces of assorted cookies and squares per evening!  Please sign up at the following link and keep your baking in your freezer until the afternoon of the performance: Bethlehem Walk Refreshments

PTL Secretary:  The PTL Executive needs a Secretary.  Requirements are to attend each PTL meeting, record discussion items and compile meeting minutes for distribution.  Please email hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca if you are interested in this position.

Next PTL Get-Together

Please mark your calendars – November’s PTL meeting is changed from Nov. 1st to Nov. 15th.  The meeting will be hosted at the Port Coquitlam campus followed by a PTL Coffee Fellowship.  If you would like to assist in set up or provide refreshments for the Coffee Fellowship, please sign up at the following link:  PTL November Coffee Fellowship

Upcoming PTL Event

The PTL is hosting a Mom’s Night Out on Friday, November 29th from 7-9 pm to gather together in fellowship and Christmas crafting, making an advent wreath with fresh greenery. 

The Advent season is the four weeks prior to Christmas, celebrating the anticipation of Christ’s birth.  If your family does not currently celebrate Advent, it is a wonderful tradition to start. Complimentary Advent devotional booklets will be provided for you to use your wreath at home with your family.

Our wreath making will take place at Amsterdam Greenhouse at 19100 Old Dewdney Road in Pitt Meadows.  The cost is $30. A $10 deposit is due at the office to secure your spot and the balance is due on the evening.

Special Showing of Screenagers:  Growing Up In The Digital Age

The PTL is hosting a special one-time showing of the documentary Screenagers on Saturday, November 16th from 9:30-11:30 am at the Hollywood 3 Cinemas in Pitt Meadows.

Screenagers is an award-winning film that probes into the vulnerable corners of family life and depicts messy struggles over social media, video games and academics. The film offers solutions on how we can help our kids navigate the digital world.

All Parents and any students 10 years and older are invited to attend.  Please indicate your attendance in the following link: Interest in Screenagers  Please be sure to submit this form by October 30th so we can adequately plan.

In Other News…

Photo Retake Oct 29

Photo retakes will take place on Tuesday, October 29, at the Port Coquitlam campus. Students are required to be in formal uniform for photos.  Parents if your child(ren) received a preview envelope from the previous picture day, please ensure that your child(ren) bring that envelope to the photographer.  If your child(ren) were absent on the previous picture day, no preview envelope is required. Students need to be dropped off at the Port Coquitlam campus in the morning and then students will be transported to Pitt Meadows campus by a teacher driver.

Gift Cards

The gift cards have arrived.  Pitt Meadows campus parents can pick them up from the office starting today.  Parents will need to check their order and sign to acknowledge receipt. Cards will not be given to students.  Our next group order will be placed in time for Christmas. Thank you for supporting this fundraising program.  


The Well

The Well will be serving Pulled Pork sandwiches with potato chips and celery on Friday, November 1st for $5.00.  Order forms are due back on Wednesday, October 30th. The Well will also have snacks for purchase at lunch on Friday as well.

Hope Junior Youth (Grades 5-8)

Junior Youth is a ministry of Hope Lutheran Church for all students in grades 5-8 to grow in friendships and faith! 

Our next event is this Saturday, November 2nd from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Yearbook Orders 

Once again, we are excited to partner with Jostens in developing a yearbook that will display special moments for all of us, including individual photos of our school family, as well as candid shots and amazing collages!

You may order your yearbook for $25. The deadline for ordering yearbooks is January 31, 2020.

    • complete the form in this link – YEARBOOK ORDER FORM, make the cheque out to Hope Lutheran School and return both to the school
    • on the cheque subject line, please write your child’s name, their class,  and “Yearbook 2019/20”
  • Online: go to the following link and follow the instructions


Yearbooks will be delivered in June before students leave for the summer holidays.  Any 2019/20 yearbooks are not picked up by June 30, 2021, will be used for school purposes.
