Important Notice Re: 2023 Kindergarten Eligible Siblings
Although it feels like the school year has just begun, in the office, we are already preparing for next September!
Each year we set aside spaces in our upcoming Kindergarten classes for potential incoming siblings. This information is determined by what a family has entered on the registration form of their older child.
We recognize that it may have been over 5 years since the first student in a family joined us at Hope Lutheran, and new siblings may have been added, or this section might not have been completed by the family at the time of registration.
If you have a younger child who would be eligible for Kindergarten 2023 (born in 2018), and you have not already received an email from our registrar Clare Wood, please contact Clare directly at cwood@hopelcs.ca, before Friday, October 21st.
The deadline to submit a 2023 Kindergarten sibling application package is October 24th.

Middle School Tripleball Team Coaching
Tripleball (precursor to Volleyball) Team Coaching – Volunteers needed
Our Middle School students are forming a tripleball team and looking for help from parents. We are looking for someone who loves the sport of volleyball and would like to be involved in our Middle school team. We are looking for at least one coach and this will count toward your volunteer hours. A current Criminal Record Clearance (CRC) is required to be on file with the school. If you are able to spare an hour a week to help coach our students and get them ready for tripleball tournaments we would greatly appreciate it. Please reach out to either school campus office if you are interested. Tentatively this will happen on Mondays, but the schedule can be discussed further.
LEST(Lutheran Elementary Schools Tournament) Information
We will be hosting a LEST Info Night over Zoom on Oct 20 at 7 pm.
Students do need a passport for crossing the border, so please make sure your children’s passports are up to date.
Yearbook Cub
The middle school yearbook club will be meeting on Wednesdays after school in Mr. Yu’s classroom. The first meeting is this Wednesday, Oct.12. See you there!
The Well
The Well is our school once per week snack shop where students get to use their talents and serve the greater community. Profits made go towards missions and other projects around the middle school campus. There’s lots of excitement on Wednesdays! We’d like to offer a treat from time to time. If you’d like to donate baked goods at any time, we would gladly accept them. Please contact Minoli at medema@hopelcs.ca. You will receive one volunteer hour for your hard work. Thank you in advance.
Parent Prayer
You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 25 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.
We meet outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.
Every Monday from 9:00 – 9:25 am (except for holidays).

PTL News
We’ve learned from our admissions interviews that an overwhelming majority of our applicants come to our school because of word-of-mouth recommendations from our school community. We are thankful that you are our best advertisers.
Do you know of a family ready to explore education options for their child? Do you have friends or family looking for a school that offers more than just an academic education, one that you can call home?
Please forward this digital information card and encourage them to check out The Hope Difference.
Participation Opportunities
Food Provision – Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher conferences happen on October 27th.
We are still in need of parents to provide pots of chili for both campuses – 2 participation hours are given for chili provision.
Food Provision – Student Service Project
Miss Markling is looking for donations of jam for her student service project in partnership with SOS ministries (see October newsletter for details). Jam donations can be dropped off at the elementary campus office. 3 jars jam = 1 PP hour
Elementary Library Assistance
The elementary library is in need of a volunteer for each of our Grade 2 classes as the children need assistance finding and recording their AR books.
The two slots are: Tuesday 12:45-1:30 and Wednesday 2:25-3:00
If a volunteer would like to stay and put in more volunteer hours, there are additional tasks you can help with in the library (you don’t need to be an elementary parent to volunteer).
Please contact Ms. Francescini directly at kfrancescini@hopelcs.ca.
Please browse the list of ongoing opportunities and let us know where you are able to lend a hand.
Upcoming Events
Our next PTL Coffee Fellowship is Friday, October 14th at 8:45 am in the elementary school parking lot. All parents are encouraged to attend.
Please refer to our Community Calendar for a list of events throughout the year.
PTL Executive Call for Nominations
The PTL Executive positions are 2-year commitments and after the two years, the position is to be open for nominations to give any interested parents an opportunity to serve on the Executive. The roles of President and Vice-President are now open for nominations.
President Overview
The PTL (Parent/Teacher League) exists to sponsor and/or assist in various school events and functions throughout the year. The role of the President functions as an administrator, overseeing the running of the PTL and ensuring all committees are staffed with an adequate number of parent volunteers.
The President acts as a liaison between the school administration and the parent membership, understanding the current needs of the school and is responsible for reporting back to the PTL membership by way of bimonthly meetings via video conference. The President also communicates to the membership on a regular basis through various forms provided by the school.
Where necessary, the President initiates event planning for parents to coordinate and execute.
Working with the PTL Treasurer, the President is responsible for the Parent Participation Program and manages the administration of the program policy and processes.
Please contact the PTL at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca if you would like more information or to nominate yourself or someone else for these roles.

Hope Lutheran Confirmation
Hope Lutheran Church is inviting all current Grade 7 and 8 students to participate in Confirmation! Confirmation is a period of instruction where students “confirm” what they know and believe about Jesus. At Hope, Confirmation is a series of retreats that leads students through the Christian faith. One year focuses on the Bible’s story, and the other year goes through 6 key topics of the Christian faith (like the Ten Commandments and the Lord’s Prayer). Our next retreat is on October 14-15, so if you (or your child) are interested in joining us, please send an email to Danielle at danielle.andriulaitis@hopelcs.ca
