Bethlehem Walk Advent Calendar

Although we cannot put on our regular Bethlehem Walk presentation for the community, we can still make an impact on those whom we want to reach out to with the message of Christmas in another way.
We are creating a unique twoweek Advent calendar with the Bethlehem message embedded.  This calendar will take the form of a collection of 14 individually packed craft activity kits for children and families to put together to create a symbol (or ornament) for each scene in the original Bethlehem Walk script. By following each day’s craft activity and message, the recipient will be presented with the entire Bethlehem Walk message.  We will also post a video on our Facebook page for each day so that we as a community can observe the making of the craft and the reading of the message for that day.
Our goal is to give these calendars away to friends, families, and people with children in our community who don’t know Jesus or who normally do not attend church or have opportunities to hear the gospel message.  As such, these calendars are not intended for our enrolled families to keep.  However, we ask that you prayerfully consider someone in your network, a child or a family with children, that could be impacted by the message in this gift.  If you have someone in mind and would like to reserve a calendar (only 1 per Hope family) to give to them, you can sign up with your name AND the name of the intended recipient so that we may pray for them when it goes out.

You can reserve one calendar with the form below.

Advent Calendar Reservation Form (limited to 1 per family while supplies last)

We look forward to you getting involved in the creation of these calendars and helping us send them out to our community.

Please reserve your kit by Friday, December 3rd.

The 2021-2022 Year Book

Once again, we are excited to partner with Jostens in developing a yearbook that will display special moments for all of us, including individual photos of our school family, as well as candid shots and amazing collages!

If you would like to order a yearbook, you may do so either by cheque or online Hope Lutheran Christian School (please no cash). You may order your yearbook for $25. The deadline for ordering your yearbook is April 1st, 2022. Your child was given a yearbook order form today. Please complete the form and return with a cheque or go to the online ordering link and follow the instructions to order your yearbook. Thank you for your support in ensuring we have yet another amazing yearbook to showcase our students’ memories at Hope this academic year!

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We will be meeting outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 9:00 – 9:30 am (except for holidays).

PTL News

Coffee Fellowships

We’ve really been enjoying our coffee times these past few weeks as we get to know parents a little better and are able to voice our thoughts, suggestions and concerns for the future of the church/school relationship.

Our next coffee time is this Thursday at 9 am at the Elementary Campus.  Please set aside some time to join us.  Copies of all the Ignite stories will be available for your review.

We will have one final coffee time on Friday, Dec. 10th before we break for Christmas.  You can look forward to monthly fellowship times starting in January.

Parent Volunteering

A reminder for parents to be sure to track your participation hours on the spreadsheet sent by your Class Liaison in September.  The sheets will close at the end of January and hours tallied.

Km Club Token Assembly

4-5 parents are needed to help assemble tokens for the fall Km Club awards on Wednesday, November 24th at 9 am in the Connection Room.  Please email the PTL at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca if you are available to assist.

Time spent counts towards your Parent Participation hours.

Advent Calendar Assembly

On Saturday, December 4th we will be packaging the advent calendar craft kits into gift boxes for distribution.  Ten parents are needed from 9-12 to help with the packaging.  Please sign up at the following link to join our packing party:  Advent Calendar Packing Party

School Facilities Maintenance Committee

A reminder to parents that there are still vacancies on this committee.  If you have ideas for maintenance/repair or improvements to our building and would like to serve our school in this way, please contact Mr. Lok at jlok@hopelcs.ca.  Time spent counts towards the Parent Participation Program.

Also, if you have experience in drainage, we’d like to hear from you.  There is a low area in our breezeway area that we would like to see fixed so the water doesn’t pool.

An ongoing list of volunteer opportunities can be found here:  2021-22 Volunteer Opportunities

Parent Information Sessions

The PTL would like to provide parents with speaker sessions on topics that interest you or to help better equip you in raising your children.  Is there a topic that you would like to know more about, such as technology, parenting, family budgets, wills & estate planning?   These sessions could be over Zoom or during an in-person evening.  Please let the PTL know by emailing us at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca

Christmas Hamper Drive

Our annual Christmas Hamper collection continues until November 29th.  This year we have included all items on one spreadsheet for ease of contribution:  Christmas Hamper requested items.  We have also asked identified families how we can bless them specifically with their individual needs.  The spreadsheet has been updated to reflect family-specific items.

Collection boxes are outside each Elementary classroom and the Middle school students can contribute to a collection box outside their campus office.

  • On the donations spreadsheet, please put your name beside the items that you are providing.
  • Donations of cash & gift cards can be taken to the school office for safekeeping.
  • Contributions are voluntary; parent participation hours are not given for these donations.
  • For health and safety reasons please ensure all donated items are new and unwrapped. (If a food item, please ensure it is not past expiry date).
  • Christmas wrapped collection boxes have been placed in each classroom for Kindergarten through Grade 5, and if you are at the Middle School Campus, please place your items in the boxes outside the office.
  • Donations will be collected Monday, November 29, 2021.

Thank you for your help & support.  If you have any questions, please contact the PTL at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca
