Lego Blocks and Christmas Lights

The Middle School is in need of old mini-Christmas lights and Lego blocks for Science and Robotics classes. Please drop these items off at the Middle School front office.

Whole School Waterslide Field Trip

We are excited to be able to once again gather as a school community in this way and look forward to having our parents with us. Last Friday, May 5, an email was sent to all our families regarding our whole school field trip to the Langley Otter Co-op Waterpark scheduled Wednesday, June 7th.  This email contains a registration form for parents wishing to join us in attending this field trip, which will need to be completed by Tuesday, May 23.

Payment for the registration will need to be submitted to the school ($7/adult) and will be due to be received at either school office by Friday, May 26.  If payment is not received by this time, the registration is forfeit.

Please refer to the May 5 email and the registration form for full details. Parents may get volunteer hours for driving their own child(ren), provided they take other students as well.  Also note, younger siblings are not permitted to join us for this field trip.

Class Photos

Next Wednesday, May 24, Hope’s photograph provider, Mountain West Studios, will be taking class photos.  Formal uniform is required for that day.  Please watch for additional details.

Km Club UPDATE

Due to the high temperatures, we would like to remind parents to supply the kids with filled water bottles and sun hats. We ask kids to slow their pace, and we will double their laps until the temperatures drop to more manageable levels.

HLC Sunflower Competition is Back!

The Sunflower competition will start May long weekend!   Who will grow the biggest flower or the tallest plant?   The best part of this competition is doing this together with fellow growers and getting outside to watch the changes happen as your plants mature.

Here’s what we need:

  • Your name and email so we can see who has entered this year and receive pictures as your seeds grow into beautiful large flowers.  Please email Pamela (pkwilli9@hotmail.com) with this information.

Here’s what you need:

  • Seeds (see the following paragraph)
  • Space to plant a large sunflower or 3!
  • Time to water and nurture your seeds.

One of the church members has graciously donated seeds again this year.  The seeds are available in the Elementary school office throughout the week if you need.

PTL News

The PTL Bylaws have been brought up to date.  Parents are asked to review the draft bylaws in preparation for voting to adopt the updated bylaws at our June 8th meeting.

Participation Opportunities

Please view our list of Participation Opportunities.  There are many needs within our library that parents can do from home.

Year-End Celebration

Please reserve the afternoon of June 21st for a year-end BBQ and activity time in McLean Park.  A pre-order form with your choice of a hot dog or a hamburger will be circulated in the coming weeks.

Parents looking for final participation hours – you are encouraged to help set up and cook.  Please contact Lisa at lklym@hopelcs.ca if you are able to assist from 9:00 am onwards on Wednesday, June 21st.

Save the Date

Grades 5-8 parents – save the date for the Middle School Mixer on Friday, June 9th at the Elementary Campus.  This event is for any incoming Hope Grade 6 students and our existing grade 6-8 students, allowing our incoming 6’s to get to know their new peers and providing an opportunity for all MS students to socialize and have fun before the end of school.

More details provided in the coming weeks.

Parent Prayer

You are welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We’ll meet outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 8:45 – 9:15 am (except for holidays).
