Used Uniform Sale
A used uniform sale will take place after school on Wed., June 19th at 3pm at the Poco Campus. Parents are responsible for set up and take down of their own table.
Used uniforms are also being sold on the Facebook page under “Hope Lutheran Uniform buy/sell/trade”.
Upcoming Events
Ice Cream Social – An ice cream social is planned for Tuesday, Sept. 10th at 6:30 at the PoCo Campus. Volunteers are needed to arrange for ice cream & toppings, set up and clean up.
Additionally, this event will also include a Volunteer Drive. Details about future events and positions available will be displayed and parents will be encouraged to sign up. If you are a current or past Committee Head, or have planned an event, please contact Lisa Klym at lklym@hopelcs.ca to submit a job description of your position and/or details of the planning process.
International Potluck Dinner – An International Potluck Dinner will be organised in November to celebrate the ethnic diversity in our school community (exact date TBD). Families will be encouraged to create a display table of their native culture so we can better understand our diversity. Families of the same ethnicity are welcome to collaborate on a display table. Get creative and show us your culture! If you wish to assist in organizing this event, please contact Tina Goetz at mylifeforhis@shaw.ca.
25th Anniversary Celebrations – The planning for celebrating our 25th Anniversary is now underway. Events will include a Harvest Fest, “25th” initiatives with the students around the school, Bethlehem Walk, and a final celebration event in the spring. There will be many opportunities to assist. Anyone interested in helping, however much time you can manage, please contact Agnes White at agneswhite0106@gmail.com
Monthly Coffee Fellowship – Coffee Fellowship mornings will be held once a month starting in September at the Poco Campus. This is a chance for parents to connect with other parents, get to know your PTL Executive, find out what is happening in the life of our school and submit ideas for activities or improvements. Dates will be communicated and posted in the Elementary School Calendar.
NEW INITIATIVES
Compassion Ministry – To foster a greater sense of community and support the needs of our Hope Families, a Compassion Ministry will be formed. This ministry will address sudden and immediate needs that may occur within our school community such as a hospitalization, critical illness, or other needs where the family would benefit from prepared meals, baked goods and/or light housekeeping.
Requests would be handled on an as-needed basis and will be kept discrete.
If you would like to be a contact for this ministry, please email Lisa Klym at lklym@hopelcs.ca.
Prayer Initiatives – As we go into celebrating the 25th Anniversary of our school, we would like to centre our focus around prayer and to earnestly seek God’s will for how He wants us to move forward in our Vision for the school. In preparation for that, we have two initiatives:
- Summer Book Club
A book club is proposed to run for 4 weeks in July. The study book will be“Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire – What Happens When God’s Spirit Invades the Hearts of His People”, by Jim Cymbala ($18 at indigo.ca). If you are interested, please contact Lisa Klym at lisaklym@telus.net. Participants are to purchase their own book.
- Parent Prayer
Starting in September, the Parent Prayer times are increasing from monthly to weekly, running every Tuesday morning at 8:55-9:30 in Room 103 at the Poco Campus.
- Monthly Community Newsletter
We would like to create a newsletter to highlight the achievements of students, celebrate victories and introduce one another. The idea is to publish a monthly newsletter with a focus on getting to know a student, parent and staff member by way of interviewing or submission of a bio.
If you have experience in publishing a newsletter and/or would like to provide comment, please email Lisa Klym at lklym@hopelcs.ca.
Middle School – The Well
The Well has had a very successful year thanks to the investment the PTL made in the slow cookers in the Fall. This year we were able to give $1000 toward the Middle School trip to LEST, which was a blessing to many. On Sunday I am picking up what will be The Well legacy gift to the whole school. We purchased a large 3 burner camp stove with triple griddle, a carrying case and a number of tools to go with it. It will create opportunities for us to make a number of different things in the quantities needed for both campuses. We wanted to thank the PTL for investing in us this year and hope to give back in the future as well. Thanks for believing in us. Rachael Hammer and The Well kids
Middle School Awards Ceremony and Grade 8 Grad
This year’s awards ceremony for Grades 6-8 will take place Wednesday, June 19 at 6:00 pm. Students and families are encouraged to attend as we take time to celebrate not only the school year and all the students’ accomplishments, but also our Grade 8’s who graduate from Hope this year.
Following the awards ceremony, the Grade 8 students and their families will be heading over to the Boston Pizza in Port Coquitlam for a grad dinner; Grade 7 students have also been invited. Tickets for the Grade 8 family members and Grade 7 students are available for purchase from the office at the PM campus.
Alouette Lake Year End Outing
Permission slips are being sent home today for our year end outing to Alouette Lake in Maple Ridge. The day will include a hike, BBQ lunch, and some leisure/fun time in the afternoon. Parents are invited to attend just to hang out or you can choose to volunteer your time to help with supervision and/or preparing the BBQ lunch. Lunch costs $5 per person (student or parent).
Please have permission forms and money returned to your child’s homeroom teacher by next Friday, June 14.
Tuition Cheques
Please note that Post Dated Cheques for Tuition for the 2019/2020 school year are coming up and being deposited as per the Date that you entered on the cheques. Please ensure that you are aware of the dates you inserted on your cheques and transfer funds to cover if needed. There is a $20.00 admin fee if these cheques are returned by the Banks.”
School Supply Forms
An email with full details was sent out Monday, May 13, and we are pleased to let our school families know that orders can be placed for the 2019/2020 pre-packaged school supplies.
This is an optional program for our families and information is available on the School’s website at the following link:

Gardening Club
The gardening club will be meeting on Tuesdays.
There will be a plant sale this Tuesday, June 11th at 3 pm at the main entrance to the Middle School. Please encourage our gardening club students by purchasing their plants or produce.
