On Friday, February 4, all school families with students currently in grades K – 7 received an email containing the link to the re-enrolment information package and forms. Re-enrolment is now open and will close on Friday, February 18.

Beginning this year, the annual administration fee has been removed and there is now a single re-enrolment fee of $110 per student. The $250 per student prepaid tuition deposit remains unchanged.

Moving Boxes Needed

As the middle school staff prepare for the big move at Spring Break, we are in need of lots of boxes. If you have moving boxes or other strong boxes of good size, please consider dropping them off at the middle school campus. It would be very much appreciated.

Chapel Offering for UGM

During our January-March we typically collect toiletries for the Union Gospel Mission (UGM) as part of our chapel offerings along with any money we collect.  With the continuing COVID restrictions it has changed what they are able to offer in their ministry to the homeless.  This year they are asking for tins of coffee, as they hand out 600-700 cups a day.  To save space in storing these we are asking families wishing to offer coffee to this ministry to hold on to the tins until February 10, at which point students can bring them to school and we can store them until UGM visits on February 17 to present our chapel message.

The 2021-2022 Year Book

Once again, we are excited to partner with Jostens in developing a yearbook that will display special moments for all of us, including individual photos of our school family, as well as candid shots and amazing collages!

If you would like to order a yearbook, you may do so either by cheque or online at Hope Lutheran Christian School (please no cash). You may order your yearbook for $25. The deadline for ordering your yearbook is April 1st, 2022. Your child was given a yearbook order form today. Please complete the form and return it with a cheque or go to the online ordering link and follow the instructions to order your yearbook. Thank you for your support in ensuring we have yet another amazing yearbook to showcase our students’ memories at Hope this academic year!

Hope Lutheran Junior Youth

Junior Youth is a ministry of Hope Lutheran Church for students in Grades 5-8, connecting students with Jesus and one another.

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We will be meeting outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 9:00 – 9:30 am (except for holidays).

Intentional Acts of Kindness Challenge – February 7-18

Our Kindness Challenge starts today!

Each day, from February 7-18, consciously perform an act of kindness. It can be as small as you like; something as simple as holding the door open for the person walking behind you or taking time to thank someone who offered you help or support. There is no lower limit to kindness.

Teachers will be on the lookout to catch students in an act of kindness and heart-shaped REAL tickets will be awarded.  The hearts are also available in the classroom and outside each office to write an encouraging note or compliment to someone.

Parents, the simplest act of an encouraging word to your teacher can do wonders to brighten their day.  Teachers are heading into report-card writing season and a kindly-spoken word may just be the catalyst they need to press on.

Proverbs 25:11 – “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”

PTL News

Parent Volunteering

Thank you to all parents who provided their time, talent or resources in assisting our school.  We appreciate your input!

New tracking sheets are being sent by each class liaison.  Please check your email for a link to the Term 2 Parent Participation record sheet.

There are some upcoming needs to fill in preparation for our middle school campus move.  Please refer to the Ongoing Opportunities sheet and contact Lisa to help (lklym@hopelcs.ca).

Small-Group Reading Plan

God wants to speak to you!  Make it one of your new year goals to read the Bible.  By joining a small group reading plan, we make reading the Bible, God’s Word, easily attainable for you and it gives you an opportunity to develop community with other Hope parents.

上帝想要与你交谈! 让阅读《圣经》成为你新年的一个目标。参与我们的读经小组吧,让我们将读经,读上帝的话语融入你的日常生活中,并且给你自己和学校其他的家长有连接的机会。

A new reading plan starts today but it’s not too late to join.  Please email Lisa your mobile number at lklym@hopelcs.ca and you will receive via text an invitation to join our 30-day plan, Life Principles to Live By.

A Chinese Bible reading group is also running.  Please contact Yi Jie (ej_zhang@hotmail.com) if you would like to be a part of the Chinese small group.

Community Relations

Submissions are open for the March newsletter.  Do you have an achievement or special event you’d like to share? How about a story of wonder or exploring God’s creation?  What about some kudos to inspire others or ideas for intentional acts of kindness?

Please send your submissions to Lisa Klym at lklym@hopelcs.ca.
