For those students who were absent during the first photo session, they will automatically have their photos taken on November 1.
All students having photos taken must be in formal uniform.
Entertainment Books
The time for Entertainment Books and or money from book sales has now passed. Any families with books still outstanding, please return them to the school office by Thursday, November 3. “The Thinking Series” for Parents
The Thinking Series is a video resource that tackles the top five questions our culture is asking today. These questions are:
- What is the Meaning of Life?
- Does God Exist?
- Do All Religions Lead to God?
- Why is There Evil?
- Is There Life after Death?
If you have ever asked yourself these questions, or if your children have ever asked these questions of you, help is on the way! Please join Pastor Laverne Hautz (of Hope Lutheran Church) for a series of discussions intended specifically for school parents.
The next session will be held at the Port Coquitlam campus on Monday, November 7, 7:30 – 8:30 pm, and the topic will be “What is the Meaning of Life?” A brief story video (4 minutes) will be followed by a brief discussion. Then a longer teaching video (10 minutes) will be followed by a little bit longer discussion of the topic question.
All school parents are invited to attend, and you are welcome to bring along other friends or family members who may be interested in the topic. The other topics will follow on about a once-a-month basis. Please use the following link to sign up for the November session or other upcoming sessions:
Remembrance Day Chapel
On Wednesday, November 9, the entire K-6 campus is planning to walk to the Port Coquitlam Legion (2675 Shaughnessy Street) for a Remembrance Day chapel service led by Pastor Hautz. Legion representatives will join us and lead us through some acts of remembrance. Students are expected to be in formal uniform and should be dressed for the weather as the service will be outdoors by the Legion’s cenotaph. Comfortable footwear for walking is encouraged as are jackets and umbrellas, if it is raining. Parents are welcome to join us for the 11:00 am service. Field trip permission forms are past due please return as soon as possible.
To clarify, the students will be walking to the Legion not driving. Sorry for the confusion on the permission slip.
Poppies will be distributed to the students on November 9 for the Remembrance Chapel service. Donations can be made to classroom teachers up until November 10.
Operation Christmas Child
Save the Date – Christmas Musical
All Kindergarten – grade 6 students will be performing in the Christmas musical, “Angel Alert” on the evening of Wednesday, December 14, and in the afternoon and evening of Thursday, December 15. Thursday, December 15 will be a 12:45 pm late start for school.
The Christmas Musical is considered part of the students’ Fine Arts curriculum and students are expected to be in attendance for both evening performances. If you child is unable to attend any of the performances please inform your child(ren)’s teacher and submit an online absence form.
School Zone Safety
Please remember to drive slowly in the school parking lot, lane, and neighbouring streets. It is important to the safety of our students to drive slowly and come to a full stop at stop signs. Please remember to drop off students in the morning at the back of the South Wing. Thank you to our faithful parent volunteers who open vehicle doors for our students and welcome them to school. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our students safe.
