Grade 5 Service Project

It’s time to clear off your bookshelves! The grade 5 classes will be collecting old books from Tuesday, November 30 until December 10 as a part of a sustainability service project. They will be accepting outdated and damaged books that will be sent to a recycling facility, as well as donatable books for our school library and little libraries around Port Coquitlam. If you have any books you’ve been meaning to get rid of, or books you’ve been meaning to donate, now is the perfect time! Kindergarten and grade 1 students can drop their books in a box outside the office. Grade 2-5 students will be collecting books in their classrooms.

Reading Link Volunteer Opportunity

Do you love to read? Do you work full time and like volunteer jobs you can do from home? If yes, then this is the volunteer opportunity for you! Reading Link is in need of 6-12 volunteers to help create quiz style questions for our weekly meetings. Your child does not have to be in Reading Link in order to help, and you can expect to earn 8-12 volunteer hours. Mastery of the English language is required. More information will be provided to those that are interested. Please email Kristin Le Ross (kleross@hopelcs.ca) if you’d like to volunteer.

Bethlehem Walk Advent Calendar

A reminder to reserve your calendar kit before December 3.

Please consider friends, family, and people with children in our community that could be impacted by the message in this gift – those who don’t know Jesus or who normally do not attend church or have opportunities to hear the gospel message.  If you have someone in mind and would like to reserve a calendar (only 1 per Hope family) to give to them, you can sign up with your name AND the name of the intended recipient so that we may pray for them when it goes out.

You can reserve one calendar with the form below.

Advent Calendar Reservation Form (limited to 1 per family while supplies last)

Festive Christmas Dress Up Day

On Friday, December 10, all K-8 students are invited to bring $2 and dress up in their favourite festive Christmas outfit. It could be their Christmas dress or suit, an ugly Christmas sweater, or even red and green clothing strewn with lights so they look like a Christmas tree – anything that looks festive and Christmassy! The event is a Grade 5 and 8 fundraiser to help cover the costs associated with their year end celebrations in June.

Recess/Lunch Supervisor Job Opportunity

With some changes expected in our supervision staffing, we are inviting our Hope parent community to apply (or share this with others you may know) for a paid position working with our Recess and Lunch Supervision Team (10:00 am – 1:00 pm, Monday to Friday).  We can accommodate part-time schedules.  Please submit a resume to Jennifer Watson (jwatson@hopelcs.ca).

Grades 4 – 8 Information Bulletin

Grades 4 – 8 families please note that an email was sent out to you Thursday, November 25 regarding the Middle Years Development Instrument (MDI).  It is important that you read through the information.

School Need

The Elementary Campus is in need of a small bar fridge similar to this:  Mini fridge.  The south wing teacher room has been borrowing a fridge for the past two years but the owner now needs it back.  If you have one you’re not using that you could lend or donate, we would appreciate it.  Please email Lisa at lklym@hopelcs.ca.

Parents Joining Us for Chapel

We are excited to open up our chapel times to our parents.  During our first service, 9:00 – 9:30 am (Grade 3-5), we have 10 spots available.  At our second service, 9:35 – 10:05 am (Grade K-2), we have 5 spots open.  Please note that on a week where a particular class is presenting, these spots will only be available for the class parents, so they may have the opportunity to watch their child.

Registering to attend either Chapel will only be accepted using the links below.

Links will close once the maximum number of registrants is reached.

Grade 3 – 5 Chapel (9:00 – 9:30 am)

Kindergarten – Grade 2 Chapel (9:35 – 10:05 am)

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We will be meeting outside at the elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 9:00 – 9:30 am (except for holidays).
