Emergency Care Kits

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) of Lutheran Church Canada holds a National Convention every 3 years – this year’s convention will be virtual!  Part of the convention is “Servant Events” where mission service activities are done to bless others, in Jesus’ name.

For this convention “Emergency Care Kits” are being created and gathered to be delivered to a local shelter.  Would you like to help prepare some kits?  Deadline for the project is June 15.

Here are the items that you put into a ziploc bag:

  1. kleenex
  2. comb
  3. toothbrush
  4. deodorant
  5. mini shampoo/conditioner
  6. hand lotion
  7. lip balm

You can drop off your kits at the Port Coquitlam campus school/church office by June 15.  Many thanks from the members of the LWML at Hope Lutheran Church.

Kids Bible Camp – SAVE THE DATE

Hope Lutheran Church will be offering a summer Bible Camp for kids aged 4 – 11. It’s called “Rocky Railway – Jesus’ Power Pulls Us Through.” All the children who participate will receive a home-made train whistle as a gift.

Registration will open the week of May 25, but in the meantime… SAVE THE DATE – “Rocky Railway” Bible Camp – July 12 – 16.

Watch for more details and the registration link.

Sports Day

Our Elementary Campus is having a fun sports day for our kids in grades K-5 but we need you to help!

An Elementary Sports Day will take place by cohort from Monday, June 7 to Wednesday June 9.

Thank you to those parents who have already signed up.  There are still a few spots needing to be filled, particularly clean-up on June 7 and 8.

Please see the signup for where you can assist:  Sports Day Assistance

PTL Opportunity for Service

The PTL (Parent/Teacher League) is looking for a Lice Check Committee Coordinator for the new school year. Lice check is a necessary health function for our elementary campus and is done three times a year to keep our environment healthy.  Checks are conducted at the start of the school year, after Christmas break and after Spring break. A binder of procedures has been developed and training can be arranged.

Please email the PTL at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca if you are able to help in this way.

Community Relations

Testimonials

Submissions are open for the June newsletter.

Do you have a testimonial about our school you’d like to share, perhaps a word of encouragement you’d like to express to the staff and/or our school community as we close out our 2021 school year?

Please send your testimonials this week to Lisa Klym at lklym@hopelcs.ca.

25 for the 25th!  HLCS BOOK DRIVE

Thank you for your support!  Our goal was a minimum of 25 books for each grade and some grades have already exceeded that.  Thank you so much!!!

Everyone has celebrated a birthday during COVID.  How about donating a book in honor of your child’s birthday?  Not only would your book have a 25th anniversary sticker on it, it would also have a birthday sticker with the student name attached to it as well.

Please view our “Wish List” with tabs based on grade level: HLCS Book Drive

If you wish to make a monetary donation instead to fund the purchase of books, donations can be dropped off at either campus office (please mark your donation “Book Drive”).

Any questions can be directed to Lisa at lklym@hopelcs.ca

Parent Prayer

Start your week in community with others. Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us in prayer for our school.

We will be meeting underneath the tents at the Port Coquitlam Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 9:00 – 9:30 am (except for holidays).
