Canadian Achievement Testing (CAT)

Canadian Achievement Testing will be taking place during the week of May 2-5 for all grades, excluding grades 4 & 7. This annual testing helps us monitor student progress over time. Please ensure that your child is in attendance and well rested.


Spelling Bee Results

A huge thank you to all the students who participated in the whole-school spelling bee last week! There were certainly some tense moments of tight competition. Everyone should be proud of themselves for participating and trying their best. Way to go HLCS! 

The top three spellers at each level were awarded with a medal.

Excel Martial Arts Movie Night

Excel Martial Arts is inviting students to an evening of fun, games, martial arts, pizza, and a movie at the Excel Martial Arts Studio. All funds raised will be donated to Hope Lutheran Elementary school! The event will take place on Saturday, June 4, and run from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. To register for the event, please click HERE

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community. 

We will be meeting outside at the elementary Campus by the main entrance. 

Every Monday from 9:00 – 9:30 am (except for holidays).

The K-12 Health Check contains the most up-to-date B.C. health guidelines and is user-friendly for children to complete daily. This resource can assist in preventative measures for families and help with the decision on whether students should attend school that day.  You can also download the app via the following links: iPhone/iPad iOS or Android devices.


Parent Teacher League (PTL) News

Hope Community Trail Clean-up (in cooperation with the Hyde Creek Watershed Society)

All Families – please join us on Sunday, May 15 for a trail clean up.  

This is a fantastic opportunity to come out as a family and be hands-on and involved in community efforts. These are the kinds of volunteer experiences that post-secondary institutions are looking for in our students. 

Meet at the Hyde Creek Hatchery, 3636 Coast Meridian Rd, Port Coquitlam at 2:00 pm.

Looking for more volunteer hours? Would you like to make a contribution towards our snacks during the Father Daughter Dance?

Middle School Open House Committee

A parent committee is forming to plan for an open house to showcase our new campus space and involve the greater community in a celebration at the start of next school year.  The open house date is set for September 24, 2022.  

If you enjoy event planning and would like to lend your ideas and experience to this committee, please contact Lisa at lklym@hopelcs.ca.  We will start planning at the beginning of May.

 

Uniform Committee

There is a need for 4-6 parents to be involved in a Uniform Committee to serve for the coming school year.  Duties include reviewing the uniform policy and making any recommendations for changes, and doing in-school checks on uniform adherence.  Please contact Lisa at lklym@hopelcs.ca if you wish to serve in this capacity next year.

Junior Youth is a ministry of Hope Lutheran Church for students in Grades 5-8, connecting students with Jesus and one another.
