Hearts For Hope Bursary Fundraising Campaign

We want to thank everyone who attended the Gala concert Saturday, February 25.  We can’t say enough about how wonderful it was to see our community come together in such a special way.  Stay tuned for pictures and videos. We also want to thank everyone who supported this campaign in other ways including our Tree of Gratitude plaques and Online Auction. Auction winners can now collect their prizes from the Elementary office.  We are very pleased to update that we have raised more than $32,000 for the bursary thus far.  However, you can make any contribution at any time directly through the school or our donation page on our website.  We look forward to sharing how new students in our community can apply for the Bursary soon.

2022 Giving Receipts

We are pleased to let you know that the 2022 HLCS giving receipts were sent out via email, on February 23, 2023.  This year’s tax receipt contains the portion of tuition that is eligible for use as charitable donations, and any additional giving your family gave to the school for the January 1 to December 31, 2022 tax year. The portion of tuition eligibility is calculated each year within the guidelines from SCSBC and can be different from year to year.

If you did not receive your family’s 2022 giving receipt in your email please check with your spouse as the receipts were sent to one email address per family.

Yearbook Orders!

Hey HLCS family! Yearbooks are now available for order! Don’t miss your chance to capture your student’s memories of this school year forever.

Want to order a yearbook? Just click this link here or take a look at one of the flyers posted around school to get started. This year’s yearbook orders can be done electronically by phone or online.

Don’t miss out — order before April 10th to receive one.

Chapel Offering for UGM

There are only 2 more weeks before spring break, and therefore only two more opportunities to bring in donations for the Union Gospel Mission.  While money donations are helpful and appreciated we are also collecting tangible items that are a great service to their community. Students will be able to bring items up to the front during our Wednesday chapels. Items such as NEW adult socks and underwear (large size both genders), personal toiletries (toothpaste, soap, etc), and tins of coffee are most appreciated.

Grade 8 Mission Trip Fundraising

Purdy’s Easter Chocolate Fundraiser

Support our Grade 8 Mission Team:  Our goal is to raise $1,000.00 so we need your help—but don’t worry, all the work you’re doing is choosing which chocolates to order.

Stock up on beautiful Easter gift boxes, fun chocolate bunnies, Sweet Georgia Browns and more. All profits will go directly to the Grade 8 mission trip. So satisfy those cravings, get all your Easter gift-shopping done while supporting a great cause.

The deadline to order is Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

What you need:

Once orders close, we’ll notify everyone when and where you can collect your treats

(Pick up will be either April 5th and/or April 6th)

Please share with anyone you know who might be interested. It would help us so much.

On-line Purdy’s Easter Catalogue

March 17 – $2 Dress Down Day

Next Friday, March 17th, wear green for $2 and support the Grade 8’s in the fundraising for their mission trip in April.

Beverage Returns

Another way to support missions fundraising – donate your returnable beverage containers.

Labels with our school’s QR code can be obtained in either campus office or printed at any Express Return-It depot by entering the number 604-111-2222 into the keypad on the Return-It kiosk at the depot (note, this is not a valid phone number but an access code to print labels).

Consider taking a labelled bag to your place of work and having your colleagues donate their beverage containers.  All proceeds raised will go directly towards the spring mission trip.

When returning items, please ensure the label has been scanned at the kiosk.

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We meet outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 8:45 – 9:15 am (except for holidays).

Parent Teacher League (PTL) News

Upcoming PTL Meeting

Our next PTL General meeting is this Thursday, March 9th at 7:00 pm over Zoom.  Connection details will be communicated this week.  In the meantime, please review the January meeting notes as we will be voting to adopt these minutes.  Our proposed agenda is as follows:

  • Devotion & Prayer
  • Approval of January 2023 Minutes
  • Elementary Principal’s Report
  • Middle School Vice-Principal’s Report
  • Financial Reports
  • Upcoming Events
  • New Business

Connecting

The PTL will host a coffee fellowship on Friday, March 17th.  This is an excellent way to connect with other parents and get to know someone new over a cup of coffee and a baked treat.

The PTL has created a group Facebook page that is private to our Community.  We hope that by having this page, it will give Hope parents a one-stop resource for all our signups and other pertinent messaging.  Please ask to join the HLCS Parent Community private group page and answer the two security questions.

Participation Opportunities

Please view the list of Participation Opportunities for other areas to serve.
