Emergency Care Kits

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) of Lutheran Church Canada holds a National Convention every 3 years – this year’s convention will be virtual!  Part of the convention is “Servant Events” where mission service activities are done to bless others, in Jesus’ name.

For this convention “Emergency Care Kits” are being created and gathered to be delivered to a local shelter.  Would you like to help prepare some kits?  Deadline for the project is June 15.

Here are the items that you put into a ziploc bag:

  1. kleenex
  2. comb
  3. toothbrush
  4. deodorant
  5. mini shampoo/conditioner
  6. hand lotion
  7. lip balm

You can drop off your kits at the Port Coquitlam campus school/church office by June 15.  Many thanks from the members of the LWML at Hope Lutheran Church.

Junior Youth is a ministry of Hope Lutheran Church for students in grades 5-8, connecting students with Jesus and one another.

Parent Teacher League (PTL) News

Community News

We are asking our whole community to share end-of-year reflections, thanksgiving, praise, hopes, dreams, prayer, stories.  Starting Monday, June 7, a notice board will be made available at both campuses for students, parents and staff to write notes to post.  Please share your reflections and encourage students to write as many as they wish to share with our community.  Please also feel free to share your prayer requests and we will pray for you.

Musical Treat Bag Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who purchased a treat bag in support of our musical.

The bags will be assembled soon and we need 2-3 more parents to assist in the assembly.  We are hoping for Wednesday morning, June 9, after drop off, but we may have to push it to next Monday.  Please email the PTL at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca if you are able to stay either day after dropping your child.

Used Uniform Sale

Have your children outgrown their uniforms?  Do you have old pieces suitable for resale?  Gather them up because a used uniform sale will take place on Monday, June 14 from 2:30 pm onwards at the Port Coquitlam Campus entrance.  Please email the PTL at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca if you need a table to display your items.  Families are responsible for the sale of their own items.

Also, at this time, all lost & found items will be displayed.  Please be sure to check the table – there are many sweaters looking for their rightful owners.

Any items not claimed will be donated.

PTL Opportunity for Service

In preparation for our upcoming 2021/22 school year, the following vacancies are in need of willing parents:

Emergency Preparedness working alongside Lilian Wong, preparing emergency response items for each class.  A list of procedures is available.

Fundraising Coordinator Ideas for fundraising are forwarded to the PTL regularly.  A Coordinator is needed to help with exploring and implementing fundraising initiatives.

Class Liaisons:  Grade 3 and Grade 7 classes still require Liaisons.  If your child is entering either of these grades and you would like to assist in this way, please let us know.

Lice Check Coordinator Lice check is a necessary health function for our elementary campus and is done three times a year to keep our environment healthy.  Checks are conducted at the start of the school year, after Christmas break and after Spring break.  A binder of procedures has been developed and training can be arranged.

Kilometre Club Coordinator:  we are hoping to offer KM Club in the fall, however, the Club is in need of a Coordinator.  A document of Best Practices has been created – a step-by-step guide on how to run the Club.  If a Coordinator is not appointed, the Club cannot function.

If you are able to assist with any of these important positions, please email the PTL at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca

PTL Meeting

Our last PTL meeting of the school year is Thursday, June 10, at 7:00 pm over Zoom.  Please be sure to attend as we will be discussing what we can possibly expect for the 2021/22 school year.  Connection details will be shared closer to the date.
