Parent Year End Survey 2020-2021

As we come to the end of another school year, we again would like to get your feedback on your child and your family’s school experience in our end of year parents survey.  We would also love to hear some of your thoughts and ideas as we move forward after this challenging school year.  We look forward to getting each and everyone’s response.

Yearbook Update

Yearbooks are expected to be here in early July. Once they have arrived an email will be sent out advising families of the best time to visit either campus to collect yearbooks. For those families that may be travelling for the summer break, your yearbook will be kept at the Port Coquitlam campus and can be collected when your child returns in September.

Thank you for supporting our Yearbook Club by purchasing a yearbook and we look forward to your continued support next year!

School Supply Lists 2021-2022

We are pleased to let our school families know that the 2021/2022 school supply lists are now ready. The lists can be used for families to purchase their own supplies or orders can now be placed for the 2021/2022 prepackaged school supplies with the supplier Creative Packs, of the company Creative Children.

An email was sent to all school families on Wednesday, June 2, with links to the lists, to the school website School Supplies page, and to the Creative Packs – Hope Lutheran page – website.  Please refer to that email for full details.

Emergency Care Kits

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) of Lutheran Church Canada holds a National Convention every 3 years – this year’s convention will be virtual!  Part of the convention is “Servant Events” where mission service activities are done to bless others, in Jesus’ name.

For this convention “Emergency Care Kits” are being created and gathered to be delivered to a local shelter.  Would you like to help prepare some kits?  Deadline for the project is June 15.

Here are the items that you put into a ziploc bag:

  1. kleenex
  2. comb
  3. toothbrush
  4. deodorant
  5. mini shampoo/conditioner
  6. hand lotion
  7. lip balm

You can drop off your kits at the Port Coquitlam campus school/church office by June 15.  Many thanks from the members of the LWML at Hope Lutheran Church.

Hope Lutheran Junior Youth

Junior Youth is a ministry of Hope Lutheran Church for students in grades 5-8, connecting students with Jesus and one another.

Parent Teacher League (PTL) News

Community News

We are asking our whole community to share end-of-year reflections, thanksgiving, praise, hopes, dreams, prayer, stories.  Notice boards are available at both campuses for students, parents and staff to write notes to post.  Please share your reflections and encourage students to write as many as they wish to share with our community.  Please also feel free to share your prayer requests and we will pray for you.

PTL Opportunity for Service

In preparation for our upcoming 2021/22 school year, the following vacancies are in need of willing parents:

Emergency Preparedness working alongside Lilian Wong, preparing emergency response items for each class.  A list of procedures is available.

Fundraising Coordinator:  Ideas for fundraising are forwarded to the PTL regularly.  A Coordinator is needed to help with exploring and implementing fundraising initiatives.

Class Liaisons:  Grade 3 and Grade 7 classes still require Liaisons.  If your child is entering either of these grades and you would like to assist in this way, please let us know.

Lice Check Coordinator:  Lice check is a necessary health function for our elementary campus and is done three times a year to keep our environment healthy.  Checks are conducted at the start of the school year, after Christmas break and after Spring break.  A binder of procedures has been developed and training can be arranged.

Kilometre Club Coordinator:  we are hoping to offer KM Club in the fall, however, the Club is in need of a Coordinator.  A document of Best Practices has been created – a step-by-step guide on how to run the Club.  If a Coordinator is not appointed, the Club cannot function.

If you are able to assist with any of these important positions, please email the PTL at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca

Community Relations

Newsletter Submissions

Submissions are open for the September newsletter.  Is your child competing in an event over the summer or taking part in musical/theatrical exams such as Royal Conservatory?  If so, we’d like to recognise them and their outstanding achievements.

News stories are not limited to the above – if you have something you’d like to share with the Hope Community, we want to hear from you!  Perhaps it’s a family trip you have planned exploring a unique area of our Province, or you’re engaging in a service project – please submit details and any relevant photos by Friday, September 3 to Lisa at lklym@hopelcs.ca
