Parent Teacher League (PTL) News
1. Reminder: The deadline to record Parent Volunteer Hours is January 31. Please contact your classroom liaison if you need a copy of the classroom link. If you have any questions, you must contact Jolene at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca prior to January 31.
2. Hope Lutheran School will be hosting an Open House on Thursday, January 31 at the Port Coquitlam Campus from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.
Parent volunteers would be appreciated to set up coffee, donate baking and other food items, and showcase our school by answering questions about the PTL, volunteering & involvement. If you are available to volunteer, please sign up. Thank you so much!

3. The 5th annual Father Daughter Dance was a huge success. Thank you to Michelle Seiden, the PTL, and all the mothers who supported this event and worked very hard to make it memorable. Thank you to Spraggs Lawyer Co. who sponsored the Photo Booth. Thank you to Igor Zaporozhets who donated his time, and sound and lights equipment.
4. Fun Food is on Friday, February 8. Parents from all grades are welcome to participate in bringing baked goods and serving. Sign up at the link below and earn volunteer hours.
Open House
Our annual Open House will take place on Thursday, January 31. Families interested in Hope Lutheran Christian School will have the opportunity to meet teachers, parents and students and explore the incredible learning experience provided at HLCS. With 23 years experience we are a K-8 school on two campuses and are recognized for our extraordinary teachers, quality academic standard, close-knit community and strong Christian values.

2019-2020 Re-Enrolment Dates
The re-enrolment and incoming sibling enrolment form for the 2019-20 school year will be sent home with the youngest student in the family on Friday, February 1. The deadline to return the form and secure your child(ren)’s space is Friday, February 15.
Uniform Committee Meeting
A small group of parents and teachers will be meeting this Friday, February 1, from 11:30 – 12:30 pm in the Port Coquitlam Campus library. Our purpose is to review our current policies for both campuses and to submit a proposal for any changes we see as beneficial for our students. We would love to have more people join us. If you plan to attend, please email Mrs. Olding (lolding@hopelcs.ca) and review the HLCS Uniform policy for both campuses. Zumba Night! – Grade 5 Celebration Fundraiser
To help raise funds for the June 2019 Grade 5 celebration day, a Zumba Night fundraiser is taking place at the Pitt Meadows campus on Saturday, February 23.
Tickets are $10 per parent for this event, kids are free!
Tickets go on sale Tuesday, January 29 and will be available from either school office.
Please note, limited amount of tickets available.
Lice Check
A school lice check will be conducted Friday, February 1. Please ensure your child’s hair is free of braids, clips, elastics and gel.
Yearbook
The deadline to order a yearbook is fast approaching: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1.

Parents in Prayer
For the school year, a parent from the Port Coquitlam campus has organized a once a month prayer time for parents/family members of Hope Lutheran Christian School.
Please join us on the first Tuesday of each month for Parent Prayer. We will meet from 8:55 – 9:30 am and pray for our children, our families, the Staff and Teachers at Hope and our Community of Port Coquitlam. We will share and learn from one another, be inspired by Bible readings on prayer and of course – we will pray together! Email Tina Goetz for more info: mylifeforhis@shaw.ca

Candy Grams Fundraiser
It’s back! For Valentine’s Day, the grade 5 classes are selling Candy Grams for $1 each as a fundraiser for the Grade 5 Celebration. Partial proceeds will be donated to the UGM. Tell a friend you care by filling out a card. Attach cash or cheque (made out to the PTL) and hand it in to your teacher by February 6, and we will deliver a package of treats to them on Valentine’s Day, February 14. Spread the love!
HELP: Beauty and the Beast
The committee would love to have some parent help with the costumes for the Musical. Ms. Allen has already approached some parents, but if you think you can help, please let her or Mrs. MacLean, Mrs. Ng, or Mr. Yee know. Also, we will need help with makeup and possible set design and props at a later date. Thanks so much.
Grade 5 Boys Basketball
Congratulations for a nice victory in our last game. We will have another game on Thursday, February 7, 3:15 – 4:30 pm, against Fatima Catholic School. Our grade five basketball tournament is February 19 at Assumption. Practices continue this week.
Grade 5 Coed Basketball Tournament
We have entered one coed (boy & girls) basketball team for a fun Hyde Creek tournament on Tuesday, February 26 from 2:30 – 8:00 pm. We will play four games. We can only take 14 players. Please keep the date available if your son or daughter is interested. More information to follow soon.
Grade 3 & 4 Basketball
We are making tentative plans for the Grade 3 and 4 boys and girls basketball teams. Potential practice dates and times have be set (DATES/TIMES MAY CHANGE), and we are looking for additional parents to help with the teams. Basketball knowledge is preferred but not mandatory. If you are able to help with a basketball team during the proposed time, please email Mrs. Olding at lolding@hopelcs.ca. We are looking forward to a fun season!

For the upcoming months, February – June, the PTL is introducing a new company called The Lunch Lady for our Hot Lunch Program.
