Over the next month or so the middle school students will be working with the BC Mission Boat Society to put together Easter Kits that will be sent to families in remote First Nations communities. Families who would like to financially support the middle school’s mission project may drop off a cheque made out to the BC Mission Boat Society. Alternatively, donations can be made via the BC Mission Boat website https://bcmissionboat.org/ – simply click the “Donate Now” button at the top right hand corner of the screen. Please remember to make a note where prompted to indicate that the funds are to be designated for “Hope Lutheran Christian School Easter Project.”

Parent Teacher League (PTL) News

Our next PTL General meeting will be Thursday, March 11 at 7:00 pm over Zoom.  Connection details will be shared closer to the date.

Community Groups

Get into community!

Small groups are being formed within our Hope community, in both English and Chinese, utilising an app-based Bible reading plan that can be read at any time each day.  Each daily reading takes about 5-10 minutes and space is provided for reflection.  Group members are connected through a chat feature and are engaging in meaningful conversation, getting to know each other better.

A Men’s group in English is starting on Monday. If you would like to be a part of a community group, please email Lisa at lklym@hopelcs.ca to get connected.   Our next Women’s group starts in a couple of weeks.

Lisa的邮件:lklym@hopelcs.ca

Intentional Acts of Kindness – A 12-Day Challenge

One more week to go in our 12-day challenge to exhibit intentional acts of kindness.   Kindness is a gift that everyone can afford.  Inspire others and let us know!  #ImAOK

The smallest act of kindness can change someone’s entire day!  It can come from anyone at any time.  And, it’s the little things that can mean so much.

Each day, until February 26, whether at home or at school, consciously perform an act of kindness. Be thoughtful and intentional – there’s no lower limit to kindness.

Share your inspiring stories and ideas for kindness at #ImAOK and lklym@hopelcs.ca.  Ideas for kindness will be published in the March newsletter.  Be an inspiration to others!

Opportunity for Service

Do you enjoy gardening, getting your hands dirty and watching plants grow?  The Middle School Gardening Club is in need of someone to take over the leadership.  This will be their third year in operation, and the students really enjoy learning about agriculture and the science of how things grow.

Provided we have leadership, our student Gardening Club will start early April, directly following spring break, and run till mid-June.  The Club will take place after school once a week (on a day convenient to the organizer and the school). Unlike previous years, the club will run completely on-site at the school.  The students will transplant seedlings in the school greenhouse and tend to them until harvest.

If leading this club interests you, please email the Middle School Vice-Principal, Miss Nast (enast@hopelcs.ca).

Parent Prayer

Start your week in community with others. Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us in prayer for our school.

We will be meeting underneath the tents at the Port Coquitlam Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 9:00 – 9:30 am (except for holidays).

Community Relations – Newsletter Submissions

Submissions are open for the March newsletter.  Please send your story ideas to Lisa Klym at lklym@hopelcs.ca. Don’t forget to submit your ideas for #ImAOK (Intentional Acts of Kindness).  We want to hear from you!
