Re-enrolment is now open and will close on Friday, February 18.

Friday, February 4, all school families with students currently in grades K – 7 received an email containing the link to the re-enrolment information package and forms.

Beginning this year, the annual administration fee has been removed and there is now a single re-enrolment fee of $110 per student. The $250 per student prepaid tuition deposit remains unchanged.

Please note that the re-enrolment fee(s) and prepaid tuition deposit(s) are due and required at the time the re-enrolment package is submitted. Any forms and payments submitted after the 4:00 pm closing on February 18 will be subject to a late fee of $100.

Purdy’s Chocolates

We thank you for your support of our celebrations of the Grade 5s and Grades 8s.  We do still have chocolate bars remaining, so if you are looking for a sweet treat please check in with the campus offices to purchase, while supplies last.

Storage Space Needed

Temporary storage is required until our new middle school space is completed at the beginning of April.  Do you have some space in your garage, work facility or storage locker that you could store some items needed for the new space?  Please contact Mr. Lok at jlok@hopelcs.ca

Intentional Acts of Kindness Challenge – February 7-18

Our Kindness Challenge continues to February 18!

Each day consciously perform an act of kindness. It can be as small as you like; something as simple as holding the door open for the person walking behind you or taking time to thank someone who offered you help or support. There is no lower limit to kindness.

Teachers will be on the look-out to catch students in an act of kindness and heart-shaped REAL tickets will be awarded.  The hearts are also available in the classroom and outside each office to write an encouraging note or compliment to someone.

Parents, the simplest act of an encouraging word to your teacher can do wonders to brighten their day.  Teachers are heading into report-card writing season and a kindly-spoken word may just be the catalyst they need to press on.

Proverbs 25:11 – “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”

HLC – Children’s Ministry Movie Night

Our next family movie night will be “The Prince of Egypt”, a 1998 American animated musical drama film produced by DreamWorks Animation and released by DreamWorks Pictures. It will be shown at the church on Saturday, February 19, at 6:30 pm, doors open at 6:15 pm.

Please click HERE for the Focus on the Family review of the movie.

We have a maximum occupancy of 50 people.

To register please use this sign up link (and be sure to register each attending person separately). Popcorn and hot chocolate will be served at intermission.

We hope to see you there for this free family event!

Chapel Offering for UGM

During our January-March we typically collect toiletries for the Union Gospel Mission (UGM) as part of our chapel offerings along with any money we collect.  With the continuing COVID restrictions it has changed what they are able to offer in their ministry to the homeless.  This year they are asking for tins of coffee, as they hand out 600-700 cups a day.  To save space in storing these we are asking families wishing to offer coffee to this ministry to hold on to the tins until February 10, at which point students can bring them to school and we can store them until UGM visits on February 17 to present our chapel message.

The 2021-2022 Yearbook

2021-2022 Yearbook ordering will be closing soon!

If you would like to order a yearbook the cost is $25.  Yearbooks can be ordered with this link: Hope Lutheran Christian School, following the ordering instructions, or using a Yearbook order form, available through the school office.  If ordering with the yearbook form payment is by cheque only (to Hope Lutheran School), no cash. Yearbook ordering will close March 15, 2022.

Thank you for your support in ensuring we have yet another amazing yearbook to showcase our students’ memories at Hope this academic year!

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We will be meeting outside at the elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 9:00 – 9:30 am (except for holidays).

Coffee Fellowship

Our next coffee fellowship is this week, Friday, February 18, at 8:45 am at the Elementary campus.  Stop by for a coffee and a chat with other parents and administrative staff.

Parent Assistance

We have an immediate need for the following assistance:

  • Pitt Meadows Campus Moving Preparation

As we prepare to move out of the Pitt Meadows campus, we need to restore a few things in the campus to its original state.  We are looking for a few handy parents to work with our school maintenance staff to help with light carpentry, plumbing and general touch up and disassembling of some installations. This work can be arranged flexibly with volunteers from now until March 31.  Please contact Mr. Lok for more details and what you can help with (jlok@hopelcs.ca).

  • City-wide Garage Sale

We are looking for a team of parents to help plan and organize this fun and environmental community event which is tentatively being promoted by the city of Port Coquitlam to take place on April 23.  Our goal is to organize a large multi-family garage sale, open to all, in the Elementary school parking lot with opportunities for neighbours and school/church community to be together.

Please contact Mr. Lok for more details and to share your great ideas. (jlok@hopelcs.ca)

A list of ongoing opportunities for parents to participate can be found here.
