2023-24 Re-enrolment Period for Current Families

Early each calendar year our current families are required to complete and submit re-enrolment forms to secure their child(ren)’s space(s) for the upcoming school year. The School provides a 2 week window for families to complete this process.

The 2023/24 school year re-enrolment period is now open and will close THIS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10th at 4:00 PM.

Please refer to the email sent out to families on Friday, January 27 for the information and forms required for re-enrolment.

This is an important time for the school community as this sets the framework for what classes will look like for the 2023-24 school year.  We thank you for the attention and promptness you will put in your response during this re-enrolment period.

Elementary Recess Supervisor Needed

We are looking for an Elementary Campus Recess Supervisor to help cover our Tuesday and Thursday opening beginning mid to late February.  A CRC will be required and first aid training is preferred but not required.  Please submit your resume to jwatson@hopelcs.ca.

PI Sports Badminton

It is that time again for badminton! Coach Ken would like to express his sincere appreciation for being so patient with his leg recovery, and the many get-well emails over the last months-thank you!

As the young grades require much more physical movement, and he has yet to recover to a point where he can comfortably coach them, please note that the coming winter months of February and March, lessons will only be open for grades 6 to 8. Elementary grades 1 through 5 will begin from spring in April.

Please register in the appropriate time slot for your child, and he hopes to see all of you again soon!

Note:

  • During the signup process, please put your “child’s name” under the “My Comment” tab, and the parent’s name under this area (First, Last) along with your email.
  • Please ensure your child wears indoor shoes during class, and to bring their rackets if they have one

Used Book Sale

Are you looking for some new books to read? Class 3A is holding a used-book sale after school on February 24th in the gym! All funds raised will be donated to the BC Cancer Foundation, and books that are not sold will be donated to Western Sky Books in Port Coquitlam. We are inviting all students in all grades to check if they have unused books, in good condition, at home and to consider donating them to this initiative. If you have any books at home that you don’t want anymore, please send them to the grade 3A classroom (room 209) by February 17th. Thank you so much, and don’t forget to drop by the gym after school on February 24th to get some new reads!

Beverage Returns

Another way to support missions fundraising – donate your returnable beverage containers.

Labels with our school’s QR code can be obtained in either campus office or printed at any Express Return-It depot by entering the number 604-111-2222 into the keypad on the Return-It kiosk at the depot (note, this is not a valid phone number but an access code to print labels).

Consider taking a labelled bag to your place of work and having your colleagues donate their beverage containers.  All proceeds raised will go directly towards the spring mission trip.

Hearts For Hope Gala Tickets

We are super excited to announce that tickets to our Hearts for Hope Gala on February 25 are now on sale online at Eventbrite.  This is THE signature fundraising event for our school’s Bursary Program featuring the amazing musical talents of the Hope community.  Come and enjoy an evening of stories, music, food and silent auction fun where we will take care of your kids for you.  Grab another family and get your tickets today!

Parent Prayer

You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We meet outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 8:45 – 9:15 am (except for holidays).

Parent Teacher League (PTL) News

The PTL has created a group Facebook page that is private to our Community.  We hope that by having this page, it will give Hope parents a one-stop resource for all our signups and other pertinent messaging.  Please ask to join the HLCS Parent Community private group page and answer the two security questions.

Parent Participation Program

Term 1 hours are being calculated and you will be notified if you are to receive a reimbursement.

Term 2 sheets should have recently been sent by your Class Liaison.  If you have not received a link to your class Term 2 PPH record sheet, please contact your Liaison.  Parents are to record their hours on their youngest child’s sheet as the hours happen.

Participation Opportunities

  • Parents to provide meal options for staff to enjoy during student-led conferences on March 2.

  • Parents to provide home-baked goods to sell at the Grade 8 Bake Sale on March 2 during student-led conferences.
    • Grade 8 students and parents are supplying the bulk of the baked goods but opportunity is given for any parent to provide home baking in exchange for participation hours. Contact Lisa at lklym@hopelcs.ca to participate.

  • May Day Parade participation, Saturday, May 13 – interested parents please contact the PTL at hopelutheranptl@hopelcs.ca by February 20th.  We need a commitment from 4-6 parents to proceed with our application to participate in May Day festivities.
    • Expectations:  accompany students on parade route walking with our school bus, providing supervision.  Estimating 4-6 PPP hours that parents can claim.
    • This is an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our school but we need your help.

Please view the list of Participation Opportunities for other areas to serve.
